I am interested in Tech consulting..
I dont know what constitutes Mgmt. consulting...
And as I said before I am confused with the varying terminology used everywhere..

Thanks
Satish
Most tech consulting companies don't require an MBA to advance. Therefore, most people who wish to remain in the tech consulting industry opt not to get an MBA.

Why do you want an MBA? What do you hope to accomplish with your MBA?

svudayag,

Do you have an idea of consulting firms that interest you?
McKinsey? Deloitte Consulting? Boston Consulting Group?

Hi

You guys are amazingly helpful in every step so far...thank you !!

My current role is 'Consultant' in a well reputed MNC.
Five years IT experience in various roles - developer, business analyst, technological lead, consultant
Outstanding Academics in one of the Top 10 Engineering colleges in India
International Experience in US for around 2 years.
Good community service.
GMAT Score - 660 (Q 49 - 90%, V 33 - 70%) - might retake but not very
sure if I would improve my verbal score.

I am looking for schools good at Consultancy - can you provide me a
list or can you provide me a link where I can get rankings based on stream?

Also, I would like to know what encompasses other streams -
like whats accounting for - i mean what kind of job responsibities
whats Operational, Finance, General Mgmt, etc,

I thought they would be clear during my MBA, but it seems like I need to know more about the various streams of MBA before applying...
any source that might be helpful to me in that regard....

Thanks !!
Satish.

Businessweek's MBA Insider has a lot of information about the schools that are stronger in different areas. Admittedly there is a fee to use that portion of the site. (I think it's $29.95 for one year). I think it would be a good investment for you. It has information on schools strong in consultancy and in IT.

For my $.02, consider Indiana, Emory, Minnesota, ARizona, Maryland.

Good luck!
