Hi:
I have a BS from India (GPA 4.0), 1 year in a software company (Siemens), 2 years of MS in wireless communications (GPA 3.96) and after steady rise, in the last 5 years, within our 120 people strong DSL Intellectual Property company I am now a Principal DSP Engineer. My GMAT score is 750 and AWA scroes yet to arrive. I have plenty of extra curricular and cocurricular leadership activities all through my academic years, but in last 5 years @ the job all my leadership activities have been job related.
After a year in software development after undergrad I decided to acquire a skill set that is a little more unique. Hence I had a slight career switch during masters. Now, while I am applying my masters skill set effectively at the current job, I find that I need to acquire general managment skills, understand the overall picture of business a liitle better and develop networking with people outside my current job. It is my personal belief that I need these skill sets and connections not only to rise vertically quickly but also incase I decide to start my own business in near future.
Thanks for staying with me this long. Based on above if you could answer the following questions it would be very helpful. Being alumni of respected MBA institutes, your opinions would be very valuable to me.
1- Am I right in saying that effort and investement into an MBA now, when I am 30 years old, is worthwhile given my career goals?
2- Is my honest career goal mentioned above good enough for the schools. I am not interested in a career switch.
3- I work in Boston Area and am currently drawing a salary in low six figures, wich is rising anually at slightly above industry average for DSP engineers. Hence my only part time options are Stern,Babson, Boston College. Given this, would you recommend a full time or a part time?
4- What schools would you recommend for a full time?
I would appreciate an honest feedback. I shall take it like a (old) man!!
Thanks
