@BottomJee, since you took both versions of the test, did you find Quant Problem Solving and DI Data Sufficiency to be easier in Focus Edition than the old version?

For instance, are Algebra/Arithmetic questions easier or tougher in the focus edition?

Did you find any noticeable differences in the two tests?

And as you have mentioned, the mocks resemble the actual test for FE. Was this also the case for the old edition or not?

This is my personal opinion- Standard edition mock questions don’t represent what actually comes up in the exam. Be it in Quant or Verbal. But for Focus edition, I felt that mocks & exams are more or less the same.

So, in the standard edition, were the mocks easier or more difficult than the actual test? I actually took one mock for the old edition. Am I likely to score lower on the actual test than the mocks for the standard edition?

I have not yet received my official sectional score, so I don’t want to comment on it as of now. May be I felt the same or easier but it could that I might have done horribly wrong in Quant. I don’t remember my sectional scores as I thought I would be getting the unofficial printout after the exam but the centre didn’t provide any thing.

I scored overall more in Focus but I cannot say that Focus is easier. Its’ just that I never scored well in SC no matter how much well I studied.

Standard edition mocks I think were easier for me than the actual test

I think, the key takeaway here is finding the strengths. But for someone who has to improve a lot on many sections, I don’t personally think the old version is an option.

See few people score more in the actual exam than in the mocks, so you never know!

I just to confirm that in new Focus Edition there is no option to cancel or accept our unofficial score. Is it true?

I think so yes, there is no option to accept/ cancel or send scores to schools.

Probably after the official scores are available at mba.com, these features can then be used.

That’s actually a good thing right? I do not particularly like the cancellation of scores thing and picking unis beforehand. Choosing after getting your scores is better

absolutely, this was one of the more reasons for me to go for this edition.

I initially wanted to take the Focus Edition. Even waited for the official materials to be out. Then found out DI was quite challenging. After that, the surprise announcement was out, and so I made the hasty decision of taking the OLD GMAT. I’m still skeptical though, because I have to get better at quant (lots of conceptual gaps) and absolutely did not begin studying for SC
