Your profile is strong on the surface, with a solid academic background and relevant experience in finance.To improve your application, focus on telling a personal story that links your past experiences to your future goals. Also, consider getting involved in activities that show your growth and leadership skills. Most importantly, try to showcase how an MBA will help you achieve your post-MBA goals and especially why MBA from a particular school. What will matter most is how you connect the dots and create a compelling narrative to impress the AdComs.

Sorry about the HBS Ding - I feel that's way too common for a program that admits a bit more than 10% of their applicants.

Your profile looks solid - nothing looks particularly out of the ordinary so fingers crossed for more invites!!! Congrats on Columbia Invite!

I would say that if your goal is a very special niche place, which can be strong, you want to make sure there are no doubts about you being able to find a job after the MBA. You want to demonstrate that you are very employable. UG pedegree matters but to an extent.

INSEAD would of course be the usual suspect and recommendation in this case. I feel maybe Cambridge or Oxford could also be safeties. 🤷‍♂️

The US programs tend to be strong forgetting a job in the US but I’m not sure about Asia. I assume you’re open to working in the US after graduation?

M sevens are going to be very hard. It’s very competitive especially with the applications going up 20% last year 👀

Yes, I’m open to working in the US and would like to stay there for several years post MBA. Should I choose other safer schools in your opinion?

It is hard to tell frankly. I have known an applicant who was a moderator last year - she was from China with 760, worked in FAANGS in China and her only issue was perhaps that she only had 3 years of work experience but she was pretty mature and a good speaker. At the end, she struck out in all M7s, Ross, and Fuqua. She got $$ at LBS and INSEAD i believe. So with that in mind, and unsure as to what went wrong, I would say it helps to have 1-2 safety programs.

I am assuming that you have put a really strong application. A 675 FE stands at about 730, which looks good to me for the schools you are targeting. Hi. Nice profile. I don't know much about the Indian job market but US manufacturing is quite unfriendly towards MBAs and you will need relevant experience. Let's hope the magic of IIM plays here. Good luck!

I would start conversing with recent graduates about connecting you to some of the students of graduates working in the same industry and having similar same goals to see how you could make yourself a more attractive candidate to employers. Or just checking to make sure that your strategy is feasible and you don’t need to reevaluate it.

Thanks mate. I have already done that, Manufacturing jobs post-MBA are fewer, but people of similar backgrounds do not generally tend to pursue MBA post-work experience and jobs that are available pay very well. People with similar profiles have landed better-paying jobs from IIMs or ISB.

Awesome profile and great school choice. The application volume and competitiveness are a bit tight among Asia applicants but I feel you should have a great fit and the fact that you are not changing industries should help. Your work experience is a bit on the shorter side but you have time on your side if you don't convert for some reason.

Hi! Thanks for your advice first. I have 3.5 yrs WE and when enroll MBA, it will be 4.5 yrs.

Cool! I have updated the form/profile - it is supposed to be as of Matriculation 😇

And I have added my round 2 planning, MIT and Wharton as my reach schools

Awesome results and great that you have a strong CGPA as well as a great score - I think as long as you are not fumbling anything, you will get admits.
Scholarships will be a bit of a question. Have you joined Forte (not sure how much it is of value) but I have seen some Scholarship options/etc. but not sure if the time has passed already for those.
