I have 6 years of work experience in handling several high-value international and domestic arbitrations arising out of EPC contracts. I have advised on financial implications of various delay events and formulation of claims. I have also acted on behalf of several clients in matters covered under the insolvency and bankruptcy laws of India (shareholder disputes, revival of distressed assets, etc.). I have appeared and argued before the Supreme Court of India as well as various other forums.
I have led a team of at least 3 lawyers in arbitrations wherein claims were to the tune of 500 plus crores and independently argued shareholder disputes before the NCLAT, India.
Post MBA Goal: I aim to work in the restructuring team of an investment bank/special situation fund. Another, more aligned post MBA goal would be to work as a disputes consultant in a consulting firm like FTI, HKA.
I am aiming to pursue MBA in europe and would also be open to relocate to either Europe or the Middle East (Saudi Arabia, Oman, Dubai, Abu Dhabi. )

I am a business and product-focused professional with experience working at the intersection of strategy, technology, and execution. In my current role, I work closely with cross-functional teams to define business requirements, structure solutions, and drive initiatives that directly impact customer-facing outcomes. I enjoy roles where my inputs translate into visible results and where I can learn by working alongside people with strong domain expertise.
Academically, I hold a B.Com (Hons.) and have cleared CFA Level I (top 45% globally), which strengthened my analytical and decision-making foundation. Beyond work, I have held leadership positions in college societies and large-scale student events, where I learned to manage teams, communicate clearly, and take ownership without formal authority.
I am now looking to build depth in management and leadership through structured learning, diverse peer exposure, and hands-on problem solving, while continuing to grow into roles where I can create meaningful value.

Priyanka here from ARINGO. Speaking about your profile, there is a lot to be excited about here. With about 5 years of diverse experience spanning finance, strategy, and now public sector consulting, you present a well-rounded and analytically strong background that fits right in with what Adcoms at top B-schools look for. Your role as an Associate Consultant, especially in the public sector, suggests you've developed strong stakeholder management skills, a keen understanding of complex systems, and the ability to drive impact in high-stakes environments.
A 3.9 GPA looks strong, while a 695 FE looks decent for some of your target schools like Harvard, Wharton etc. Adcoms at these top B-schools will also value your demonstrated intellectual capacity and your public sector consulting background. INSEAD’s global network and intense one-year structure could fast-track your finance transition, especially if you’re open to working in Europe or the Middle East.
I would like to know how flexible are you in terms of geography post-MBA? It will also be crucial for you to bring more clarity in your post-MBA goals. You’re in a strong position, and with the right storytelling, you could be a compelling candidate across your target schools.

Good Luck!
You’ve got a solid foundation—3.9 GPA, a consulting role with a public sector focus, and exposure to finance and strategy. That’s a great platform for M7 apps. However, aiming for a high-finance post-MBA with a GMAT Focus 695 (≈705 classic) is a stretch for schools like Wharton and Columbia unless the rest of the application hits hard. These roles are fiercely competitive, and schools will scrutinize both quant skills and pedigree.
You’ll need to double down on making a tight, finance-ready narrative about how your consulting + finance background translates to IB/PE. INSEAD, LBS, and Yale are great fits for your pivot, and Rotman could be a strong safety. Let’s dive into the details on a call and strategize around school fit, essays, and how to sharpen your finance story.

Your GMAT Focus score of 695 is good, while competitive for many programs, it can be decent for some schools like HBS, Wharton, and Sloan, especially for international applicants targeting finance roles. That said, your high GPA, strong consulting background, and clear goals shall help compensate, especially if you build a compelling story around your post-MBA pivot into private equity or investment banking.
Transitioning into PE or IB from a public-sector consulting background is certainly ambitious, but not impossible. The key will be to convincingly articulate why you're making this shift, how your current experience has prepared you for the leap, and what steps you’ve already taken to develop relevant technical and commercial skills (like financial modeling, exposure to transactions, deal advisory, or valuation). Admissions committees will want to see clarity, realism, and self-awareness in your short- and long-term goals. This narrative will need to be particularly well thought-out for Wharton, Booth, and Columbia, which are deeply connected to finance pipelines.
Additionally, you might want to consider schools like Darden and Tepper or Georgetown, which offer strong quantitative rigor and good outcomes in consulting and finance.
To strengthen your candidacy further, we recommend reflecting on the following questions: Why specifically are you shifting from the public sector to private equity or investment banking? What technical or industry exposure do you already have that supports this transition? How do you envision using an MBA to close the gap between your current and future career paths? What leadership stories from your work experience showcase your ability to drive results in ambiguous environments? Answers to these questions will serve as the core of your essays and interviews.
Overall, your academic strength, well-defined goals, and diverse professional exposure can make you a competitive applicant for many top programs. With thoughtful storytelling, clear rationale for your career pivot, and potentially a slightly higher GMAT Focus score, you could significantly increase your chances of admission at top-tier schools. Good luck!
You have a strong academic foundation (3.9 GPA) and a solid GMAT Focus score (695), which puts you in a competitive position. Your experience across finance and strategy, followed by consulting in the public sector, shows versatility and transferable skills for a finance pivot.
To strengthen your case for investment banking or private equity post-MBA—especially in the U.S.—focus on clearly articulating your rationale for the shift, and highlight any exposure to financial modeling, deal work, or client advisory. It's crucial to build an authentic, compelling narrative. Focus on articulating your goals and career transition plan clearly - make sure your goals are specific and well-defined. Connect your past experiences to your future goals, highlight the specific skills or exposure you're seeking and explain how the MBA will help you gain these to achieve your goals.
To maximize your chances, consider applying to a balanced mix of reach, target, and safety schools. Rotman could be a good safety school.
