Do admission consultants follow up with universities or call them after they talk with a prospective candidate? If I schedule a free consult and they don't like me, will the consultant call the school and say bad things about me to the school?
Hello,
mrdeferredmbagoal. Although admissions consultants will want to be up to date with programs (e.g., deadlines, essay or interview topics, other factors that affect admissions) and so might get in touch with programs from time to time, they will not do so out of some animus toward a prospective candidate to a given program. Such a consultant would not stay in business too long, for one, and unless your admissions consultant were writing a letter of recommendation, the program would not likely waste time tracking down your application to flag it. Finally, you might want to consider not giving a consultant a reason to dislike you, if that is a concern. A little friendliness and honesty can go a long way.
Good luck with your applications.
