Dear all
I am a 29 year old medical doctor, from the UK who is currently working in a clinical research role in the US. I am getting pretty fed up with the lack of return and constant studying thats required for a medical career and have been looking at going into biotech, healthcare consulting or entrepreneurship. I have tried unsuccessfully in the past to join consulting firms, but I would prefer to have my pick of choices and plenty of options rather than who will throw me a bone, hence my decision to do an MBA. I also prefer life on the west coast. Haas is my ideal preference, but I am not getting any younger so would be happy with a top 30 school.
I sat the GMAT in april and got a 620 - 47q, 29v. I did not study for the verbal section, and I have what I believe is an OK quant score.
Here are my listed credentials:
- EU citizen, raised in the far east for the first 19 years of my life.
- First language English.
- Undergraduate medicine from a European university (pass).
- Worked in clinical medicine full time for 2 years in training posts, non-training for approximately 1y 3months.
- MSc in clinical neuroscience (passed with distinction from a top London school).
- Taught anatomy to medical students for 6 months at a university in the UK.
- Working in a renowned US resarch institution currently.
The reason that I do not want to resit the GMAT is because I am currently studying for the US medical licensing examinations and really cannot afford to take extra time to study for GMAT whilst also working in my research post.
Do you think that with my credentials and a current GMAT score I would qualify as being 'non-traditional' which would give me a leg up on getting into the MBA programme?
