Well, there is usually a floor of some sort at the schools I have checked, but yes, if you have experience that tends to mitigate a low GPA (thank God - my undergrad GPA was actually 2.06!). Fortunately, as I am 45 going on 46 years old, I have a significant resume to balance things, and so I can still hope. The 730 GMAT in March didn't hurt, either.

The key is to find out as much about the school as you can. You should be able to get a sense of the kind of student they want, and that will tell you not only whether you can get in, but whether you'd be a good fit. After all, you don't just to go to school, but also a degree that will materially advance your career and suit your character.

Dear Paul,

I've acquired GPA at undergraduate with the low level 2.3 around - GMAT 680. I intend to apply to Standford and MIT as international loan student. Is it feasible? Please give me some advices.
Thanks and Regards.

Changetheworld,

Sorry for the late reply; I've been on the road. Unless you are an underrepresented U.S. minority, I don't think you have a chance at Stanford with those numbers. Your odds at MIT are only marginally better. I would strongly encourage you to look at other schools.

Good luck!
