This is driving me nuts. I've been accepted by an excellent EMBA program in Canada(where I got a significant scholarship) which will be fully funded by my company if I go this year. That said, I am pretty sure I want to extend myself by trying to go to a tier 1 school or a european school. There is no real barrier to me doing so: I'm an Engineer, 27 years old with nearly 7 years experience as: a Project Manager (2 years, several $Million dollar projects) and a technical service engineer for a chemical distributor (last 5 years, presentations, training, joint sales). I am often told that I defy the engineering mold completely(strong/dynamic presentation/verbal skills, leadership skills, and general people skills). This is born out in my GMAT where I got 750 (47Q 46V) which is 99 percentile verbal and 82 percentile math. The 82 percentile math is not indicative of my math skills. I completed high school math when I was 14 and generally excel at math as well. My university average (from a canadian school) was about 75% which is actually top 15-25%(although I was pretty lazy in university- not really challenged, only 16 years old at the start). The risk is that if I pass up this opportunity to be fully funded to the EMBA and don't get into a tier one school next year (which still means I have to wait a year) then it appears I would be <edited>. I am not looking to be told what to do but I am interested in different perspectives from people in similar situations.

It sounds like you're not that excited about the EMBA program, so I would recommend strteching yoruself and trying to get into a school that you really want to go to. Yeah, it's a risk, but you only can go to b-school once, so don't settle for a program in which you're not really interested.

You still have a couple of years before you start looking too "old" to b-school adcomms. I'd say give it a shot!
