Hello,
Thanks in advance for your time.
Profile:
I came from an art conservatory in high school, went to college as an art major. Found that I was very limited and transferred to business to develop my ideas as business concepts. My current company and plans for future companies are all creative in focus.
Age: 21 at matriculation
GPA: 3.96 Entrepreneurship B.S. (Large state school)
GMAT: 760 Q49 (86) V45 (98) AWA 6.0 (91)
Work Experience: Current College Senior
1. I started a company with my husband in October 2009. We are a couple months away from launching our first line of products (clothing, shoes, accessories). We work with manufacturers around the world. I handle international shipping, customs handling, finances, taxes, accounting, and other logistical operations for us.
2. I’m a current paid researcher at my university, working on collecting information for a business I’d like to start within 2 years of receiving my MBA.
3. I’m a current teaching assistant for a managerial accounting class. I create assignments and review sessions for students before exams.
4. I held a 10 month internship with my university’s undergrad research program. I advised students, built databases, and created a training manual for future interns in my position.
Extracurriculars:
Participant in an educational collective for young entrepreneurs. We host seminars with local business leaders, pool resources, and support each others’ ventures. (august 2010 to present)
Coordinator for campus community gardens. Connected my fellow business students with retail opportunities at our campus farmer’s market. I also help harvest and plant produce for the market. (august 2010 to present)
Master of House for aerial dance troupe. (june 2008 to jan 2009)
Other Roles: financial consultant for urban planning students in campus design competition (4 months), campaigned to preserve mixed-use zoning in local public bond election (5 months), horticulture volunteer at different garden organization (3 months).
Post-MBA:
I want to grow with my current company and found new companies. I need an MBA for perspective on strategy and planning. Even with a business undergrad, many of my decisions are trial and error.
Schools (chosen for excellent entrepreneurial programs):
Stanford
Wharton
Chicago Booth
UCLA Anderson
Texas McCombs
University of Colorado
Syracuse University
What are my chances as an early career candidate? I worry that my community involvement is too weak because my extended roles are at least a year old. Starting a business is very time consuming. Does this stand out as something I should address in an additional essay?
Thank you.
