White American male with a wife and child (does the family aspect hurt or help?)
GMAT: 760, 48Q-46V (I could probably do better on Q, but may not improve overall score)
UGPA: 3.0 engineering from Cornell.
GGPA (will graduate this December): 4.0 in MS Product Development Engineering from U. of Southern Cal.
Work: When I apply next fall, I will have over 5 years experience in engineering on defense projects, and should be able to provide good examples of leadership and team work, along with strong recommendations.
Goal: Entrepeneurship in the long run, maybe consulting in the interim to help build the resume and improve my network.
Target Schools: Harvard, Stanford, MIT, Dartmouth, UC Berkeley.
Since I'm not planning to apply until about this time next year, can you recommend if I should do anything to improve my chances? Also, I know a couple of the schools may be long shots, but are any conceivable? I'm hoping that a strong graduate record and high GMAT score can compensate for the low undergrad GPA (although it was in a pretty tough program). Also, I think I can make a good case for the combination of my engineering masters and the MBA working for my entrepreneurship goals.
Thanks for the review. Also, I'm 26 and have been pursuing the masters while working full time.
