I am older candidate with marginal undergraduate GPA and median GMAT scores and was offered an interview to the CBS EMBA program. I knew that a good interview would help me stand above the pack.
I was concerned because I had not been interviewed in quite a while having been at my current position in financial services for 10+ years. Also, I am not particularly great at speaking about myself which is essential in interviews.
I searched for a consultant who could provide mock interview preparation and was drawn between Veritas Prep and
mbaMission.
mbaMission offered face-to-face but at a substantially higher cost whereas Veritas offered more hours but via Skype or phone. I chose Veritas because they were quick to respond and were also able to let me know the consultant that I'd be assigned before I started. Also, I liked her biography having been an admissions director at Cornell business school.
Rachel Shelton helped me immensely over 2 1-hour sessions. Her candidness sped up my learning process, and her ability to guide me through a response that was well thought out, meaningful, concise ,and directed towards gaining admission was infinitely beneficial. I can still see her shaking her head to some of my initial responses which is the frankness that helped me remember the good from the bad. In short, she knows what 'they' are looking for, but does not force feed you trite responses to regurgitate. Rather, she helps you craft a story that resonates with your unique voice. Lastly, Rachel was very responsive and supportive, and let's face it: at this time of the application process, you need a cheerleader! Needless to say, I was admitted. And, I would unequivocally recommend Rachel in your preparation.
