So, by way of background, I am looking to make a switch from consulting (niche management area) into Brand Management - either at a CPG or Food and Beverage company. Ideally, I will stay on the East Coast or in the Midwest - so this doesn't play a huge role. I will be moving with a significant other who would ideally like to be in a big city. Fortunately, I have had some great luck and am facing a severe first world problem. While I am 90% there with my decision (which I can share later), I would like to hear what others think...
The options are as follows:
Goizueta - Full ride plus a significant stipend/additional recognition and network.
Pros: Have family in Atlanta, strong ties through the school/fellowship to some great companies (Coke, Delta, etc.), school is on the upswing, great student/teacher ratio, really liked the other students when I visisted
Cons: small program may limit options/class offerings, possible regional implications (e.g., what happens if I want to move to Chicago)
UNC - Full ride plus a significant stipend/additional recognition and network.
Pros: Chapel Hill is a great town, national reach and strong reputation, strong marketing program, bigger program (although still small) with perhaps a much larger network
Cons: Went to undergrad at UNC, less options for the significant other in a small college town, no companies located right there
Duke - similar to UNC here as far as pros and cons go, obviously a bit stronger of a reputation and name recognition.
Other things still in play - Cornell (invited to interview), Kellogg (should hear later today)
Booth (I passed on interview)
Obviously money is a big issue here, would love to hear what others think...
