I'll give you some context.
I'm a 28 year old female, I live in Canada but have lived in Dubai for 15 years before. My post MBA goal is to get into consulting in Dubai. I am interested in the innovation and technology track, especially being in R&D for the past several years. I applied to both ESADE and Bocconi. I received a 20k euro scholarship from ESADE and a 50% scholarship from Bocconi.
Now... I'm very conflicted because Bocconi is already 10k euro cheaper than Esade and with the 28k euro scholarship.. the cost difference will be around 20k euros.
I have spoken to current students and alum at ESADE (working in Dubai) and I got a really positive feel for the school and network. For Bocconi, I sadly haven't been able to connect with a single person.
Bocconi pros:
- cheaper
- closer to my sister who is studying in Rome but might move to Milan
- heard BCG hire a lot of Bocconi graduates
- Might get a 900 euro/month scholarship from the Italian embassy in Canada (it's a collaboration between Canada and Italy)
Bocconi cons:
- very slow response.. sometimes they never even reply to my questions even if I ask twice
- bad experience during the interview, some inappropriate questions by interviewer like (are you married?)
- Italy bureaucracy .... I want my time there to not be a struggle
- Traditionalist style program
ESADE pros:
- contact there have been VERY helpful and friendly
- Format of program is more modern than Bocconi
- Barcelona is the hub of innovation and technology / startups
- Very big on Women in Business
ESADE cons:
- more expensive
- Most probably won't be living with my sister
It seems pretty obvious I'm leaning towards ESADE but there is a potential difference of 30 thousand euros.
My question is... knowing my post MBA goals and what I listed.. What advice would you give?
oh, I emailed the admission people in ESADE for a scholarship match and they said the main person will get back to me during the holidays to discuss it
Congratulations on your admits.
Both are good schools. As you mentioned that you have talked to ESADE alums in Dubai and you have lived in Dubai before so ESADE should be an obvious choice.
But to make a sound decision, I would advise you to do a more thorough check for non-europeans placements for both. The thing about placement reports is that it is a filtered data, with data placed strategically that encourages potential candidate to apply.
Let me PM you a comparison excel for two b school; I cannot add it here for some technical challenges.
it is generic and you can add your own criteria as well.
We had a recent italian admit at HEC who chose ESADE over HEC. Hence if an Italian chooses ESADE than the signs are obvious
