Hello,
I have a quick question about how to handle one of the Essays from UVA.
The second essay asks us to describe a global event and how it has impacted my opinion on leadership. After doing some thinking I realized that two sporting events that happened have impacted me a good deal. One was how all parties (MLB Comissioner Bud Selig, the Umpire, and the player) handled a blown perfect game call. However, after giving it some thought, I am afraid that the Adcom might see this as a trivial global event. It is not even global in a sense that it really only affected the US and baseball fans.
What are your thoughts on this? Should I chose an event that had more of an impact globally?

Hi Brandon,
That's a tough one to answer, because our philosophy is that essays can't be created or evaluated without context. For one person, that answer might be thin. For another, it might be the perfect direction to take things based on the rest of the app and profile.
My best guess is that you can make that work if it is set up and knocked down correctly, but everything else in your file is going to ultimately determine whether that take works or not.
Again, this is not to duck the question or to strongarm you into working with a consultant, but just to say that it is best to avoid analyzing such things in a vacuum. PM me if you want to get into this a bit more and I'll see what I can do to help steer you in the right direction.
