essay samples in paul's book

Hi Paul,

I'm puzzled about the length of the essays in your book. Some of them seem much longer than the space allotted by the schools. For example, Kellogg requests a 1-2 page, double spaced essay for the self-assessment on application. The example by Michiko in your book is easily twice this length, even with adjusted margins, etc. Can you explain this to me? I'm wondering if I haven't considered something length-wise.

Thanks very much, glad it's helping you. The Mikiko Kellogg essay *should* fit on 2 pages, double-spaced. Maybe the issue was the type size? Also, remember that the sample in my book is full of my bracketed annotations, which obviously expand the length. Sometimes for Kellogg BTW, you can change the line spacing to "1.9" and pick up more space that way.

Thanks for your reply and compliment! I was working on the response to the prompt Mikiko answered, and wondered how she had so much more room to respond within the length limitation.

Anazao (anna-zow, or it can be pronounced as the original Greek, anahd-zao) means "to revive, to refresh, to live again." It is not my real name but I have gone by it before. There is also a song named after me (authored by Maurice Brown) from my days working at the Kennedy Center. I have a background in nonprofit performing arts management.
