I am an IT analyst with an Indian IT company working in the Telecommunications Industry for more than five years.

GMAT: 690 (49Q, 34V)
Nationality: Indian
Academics: 85.5% in B.E. (Electrical Engineering) from a reputed Indian university.

Career:

a) I started off as a developer and now I am working as a Project Leader. Currently, I am handling a team of 5 team members for a UK Client. I am also providing support to the marketing and sales groups of my organisation and the client. I have acquired good level of marketing skills through product demonstrations at customer sites. I have been instrumental in several of our client's product sales in India. I have led good number of projects and initiatives.

b) I got promoted ahead of the normal schedule to my current level within the company.

c) Total Work Experience: 5+ years

International work experience:
a) 2 years in the U.K.
b) Worked closely with customers in China, India and the US.

ExtraCurriculars:
a) Involvement in my company's corporate social responsibility activities.
b) Technical paper presentation in an international Conference at Canada.
c) Event manager for various activities at college and corporate level.
d) Good involvement in sports in college and corporate level. Represented corporate cricket team in UK.

My Goals:
MBA starting in Fall 2008, with 5+ years of professional experience. Share my experiences, learn from others and contribute my enthusiasm and ideas to class.

Post MBA goals:
After MBA, I want to come back to the same industry - Wireless Telecommunications as a sales and marketing manager.

Target Schools:
Round 2: UCLA, Duke, Darden, Ross and UNC.

Am I overreaching with these colleges? Please help me arrive at a balanced list of colleges. Could you please suggest any other colleges that may fit my requirement?

Sorry for the delayed reply. I think you are overreaching somewhat, but if you balance this list with some schools where you're more competitive you will be fine. You are somewhat competitive at all of these schools (with UNC being perhaps the most doable and Ross and UCLA being the toughest ones), but you have a very common profile so you will have to work very hard to make yourself stand out from the pack. Given your goals you may want to consider the following schools as strong marketing programs where you might have a better chance: Indiana, Wisconsin, USC, Emory, Purdue, Washington (Olin)--all place high percentages of MBAs in marketing.
