White American Male from Louisiana.
GMAT: 710 (I think I could raise this 30 points or so)
UGPA: 2.95 Finance from Texas A&M.
GGPA: 4.0 on +/- system, currently in a part time MSF program @ Boston College.
Work: 5 years as a Naval Officer. Strong Leadership, excellent letters of recommendation. Lots of international exposure/travel.
Goal: Transition from Navy to Investment Banking.
Target Schools: NYU, Columbia, UVA, Duke, MIT, Wharton, Chicago, UNC.
As stated above, I am currently in a part time MSF program at BC but considering applying to B-school. I have applied to NYU's Langone program (Very late in the process). After starting the MSF, I realized that an MBA is going to make me a stronger candidate for Investment Banking positions. I have a low Undergraduate GPA but did work full time (40 hours a week) while going to school. Obviously, I have done much better in graduate school.
What do think my chances are with the above schools? Any other recommendations?
I can elaborate more on my leadership experience, if necessary.

At first blush, your red flags were the undergrad GPA and (to a lesser extent) the current MSF enrollment. The fact that you worked full-time undergrad will cut you a decent amount of slack, but because you are aiming high you probably should raise that GMAT (especially if you think you can). Regarding the MSF, you will want to explain in a coherent way what events or experiences made you realize the MSF was not the degree you needed (seems a bit confused). Elite schools like military people. If your leadership stories are the real thing (large/lots of command, combat, etc.) then you could get into several of the schools on your list. You can be more optimistic about Duke, UVA, and UNC than about the remainder, with Chicago, Wharton, and Columbia being the toughest nuts. One major issue you will want to nail: showing that you know what you're getting into re: IB, that you've done your due diligence, that your Navy work gives some indication of your likelihood of success in IB. Elite schools also care about community/social impact stuff. Your military + international experiences may cut you some slack there, but it's another potential area of concern.

Thanks Paul. I think I can explain why I am plan on changing from the MSF to MBA. I am only 3 classes (out of 10) into it so I figured it wouldn't hurt that much.
No combat experience (at least not getting shot at). Would you classify leading 40-50 people as large?
