It looks cool, I like it. What about placing it next to the GMAT Club logo? There is empty space there and you could make it fit. The logo could loose visibility though, but you can start reading the posts with less scrolling.

Thank you - I have considered that but in my tests most users don't pay attention to that area (sites taught them well to ignore banners).
Actually this was developed independent of it but WSJ has a similar bar (much taller though) https://online.wsj.com/article/BT-CO-201 ... 12163.html

The bar that we have right now is equal to the average size of an announcement we post on the forums from time to time so I am again hoping it won't drive too much change to user habits and won't cause additional scrolling.

Again, thank you for your suggestion and kudos for the comment!

that 1 hater is me.
i think most of these ads can be accessed by links on other pages .So, why have two links advertising the same offer?? plus it somehow does not make gmatclub "cool"(for want of a better word), i mean u got ads on the main page, on every forum(at the bottom) and on those forums especially created for these companies.too much of pop ups or ads seems overkill. but this is just my opinion, no offense meant.

For users like me (who always have GMAT club tab running in their browsers and spend most of the time on this forum), I think the announcement bar will serve as a good awareness tool. With 2012 application season catching pace, its very good to see such an initiative that will enable students to keep up with the deadlines and important events at different schools.

Thanks! Appreciate the input and feedback - we hope these to be of value and to be community events. Many of these we have not promoted in the past such as Free Online GMAT Class with MGMAT or Veritas Prep. Last chance to win an iPad 2, and others. Thursdays with Ron was promoted but so many things are going on that they can easily be lost.

I will also be adding school deadlines and decision days.
We'll have a way to turn it off in the future, so there is hope for you :)
