Hello everyone, first time posting!

I recently decided that Business School was the next step for me. I just registered for the GMAT- will take the test on June 23rd! :o So it will be a 5-month prep.
I got the Manhattan guides and the official guides too. Vocab is probably one of my weaknesses so I started learning new words through Manhattan flash cards a couple weeks ago. I will probably start studying sometime next week.

My profile:
Lived most of my life and went so school in Venezuela (Spanish native speaker)
Chemical Engineering Degree
Latina Woman (not sure if this helps me at all?)
3 years work experience in Engineering/technical sales- currently work in Boston, MA.
Gpa is 3.0 (hurts my chances at a top B school :( )

Planning to apply to (first rounds):
HBS (worth a shot, low chances)
MIT Sloan (same as above)
Boston College (very good chances)
Boston University

Was planning on a 5th one but not sure yet. Maybe UCLA or Georgetown? I don't mind leaving Boston.

Happy to start my journey, thank you everyone for making this forum so great! :-D :P

Hi,
Welcome to the forum, and by joining the Gmatclub you may have taken the right step..
5 months is good time and work hard and judiciously and you will get a good score..
Don't worry about what has happened as you can do nothing about it and even if there is some slight worry, you can overcome by working hard .
All the best

Hi ASPEBoston,

Since it sounds like you're just beginning your studies, then it would be a good idea to take a FULL-LENGTH practice CAT Test; you can download 2 for free from www.mba.com (and they come with some additional practice materials). If you want to do a little studying first, so that you can familiarize yourself with the basic content and question types, then that's okay - but you shouldn't wait too long to take that initial CAT. That score will give us a good sense of your natural strengths and weaknesses and will help provide a basis for comparison as you continue to study. A FULL CAT takes about 4 hours to complete, so make sure that you've set aside enough time to take it in one sitting. Once you have those scores, you should report back here and we can come up with a study plan.

I'd like to know a bit more about your timeline and goals:
1) What is your goal score?
2) Going forward, how many hours do you think you can consistently study each week?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich
