I'm back :).
I have already taken the GMAT today and the score is as low as I predicted. The reason is that I screwed the Verbal up totally.
Honestly, I am NOT afraid of Verbal, although I am a non-native. The failure is not caused by my English proficiency, rather by my approach to this section.
It's time for self-assessment :)

I have faced similar situation in CR when I did it for first time.

Read the book thoroughly and solve the questions untimed. DO NOT worry about the time. Do not touch SC for time being. Once you are done with this CR book, do 3-4 questions daily and side by side start Mgmat SC.

Once you wind up MGMAT SC, do 3-4 questions of both CR and SC daily.
when you are done with SC, start CR bible again. Keep doing both the question types daily. Reason why i m asking you to do CR bible again is my accuracy was increased from below 50% to 80% just after my second revision. If required I will revise CR bible and SC multiple times and would like to advice you the same.

Another important thing - do not move to the next section unless you have grasped the previous one. DO NOT rush, build your fundamentals first and do not practice much questions. Once your fundamentals are built, practice as much as you can.

Me again. I spent the whole afternoon to read all the posts in this thread and I found this post. I wish I had read it earlier during my prep :(.
I was in the similar situation when I prepped for CR: after reading CR bible for the first time, I felt like I could grasp the fundamentals but in reality I didn't! I made a huge mistake to rush, practise the problems in OG 12 (and got many Q wrong) and failed to devote time to revising the knowledge gap.

I will try to follow gurpreetsingh's approach by re-reading the CR bible, taking notes and doing about 3-4 CR questions per day. After completing CR Bible, I will crack MGMAT SC and keep doing CR in the same time, moving in a smooth manner.

But the problem is: I have exhausted the CR practice problems in OG 12 (I remember the OA for each problem), so I won't have any reliable materials to practise during my GMAT retaking preparation :(. Perhaps I should try MGMAT and Kaplan instead.

Hope to receive your comments about my retaking strategy :)

you can buy og verbal as well.

Even if you have done og once, do it again and analyze why the option is right or wrong.

For harder problems , LSAT could be used.

I'll vouch for the OG verbal

Doesnt have too many questions ... about 100 each on cr,rc,sc

but the questions are good practice & they are organized in the order of difficulty from easiest to toughest which is helpful even in evaluating how much time you take per Q depending on how difficult it is and how accurate you can get. Plus they are all retired gmat Qs, so realistic

it was a hard book to get hold of though, i must have phoned half the book stores in Delhi to get it.

The above SC guide is very good. You can easily complete in 2-3 days and is very concise. Very good list of idioms and general Gmat Traps.

I highly recommend you guys to try it.

probably you have the access to OG companion that provides quant solutions. It is the only Og companion published by Mgmat. There is no such companion for verbal.

Any updates guys?

I have completed og12 and og verbal for CR portion with an accuracy of 73 and 83 respectively. No doubt og verbal 2 is easier than og12 but the last few questions of og verbal 2 were quite difficult.

After the completion of both the og's I started working on LSAT CR questions from this forum. I have found that they are not similar to the Gmat questions. In LSAT CR I think assumptions are allowed.

For LSAT if you guys want to practice then practice only those questions where you have to find the method/parallel reasoning/Boldface type questions. Must be true and main point questions are really weird.

I will work on these 3 categories from the forum + og's revision + Mgmat CAT + Gmatprep + powerscore bible revision.

For SC I will complete og verbal this week and it will be followed by Mgmat and Gmatprep CATs, og's revision , and mgmat revision.

For RC - I will complete og verbal this week and it will be followed by Mgmat and gmatprep CAT, og's revision.

:-D I seriously need blessings for Verbal; its really daunting.

From today, I m going to read at least 2 boring article daily before starting any other study. It will hardly take 15-20 minutes. I have been procrastinating this since many months.

I think that depends on your fundamental understanding of grammar before you start preparing for the GMAT. For some non-native speakers, reading a grammar book to get the basics down will help a lot. For some, it's not so important since they have a good grasp of the fundamentals and only need to tune their skills to adapt to the GMAT.

Thanks gurpreetsingh for creating this dedicated thread.

I am preparing for SC along with you guys. I tried a lot for RC but I do not think that RC can be improved beyond a certain limit. It all depends upon the passage you encounter.

I am going to start reading newspapers/books to improve RC.

Any recommendations for newspapers ?? specially for finance / worker/policies related passages.
