Hi rajat96,

Welcome to YMBAS club and we are happy to answer your queries.

Highlights - Strong Academics, IB Experience

Focus Areas - GMAT Score (Higher the better but try to score at least a 680), Why MBA and what are your post MBA objectives, Since the work ex is on the lower side, did you get any opportunities for growth / leadership during your professional experience, How about extracurriculars?

Overall this a good profile, however your similar applicant pool is also likely to have higher GMAT and academic scores. It would be useful to put effort in how you make your profile stand out from an over represented applicant pool (Engineering), which should come out in your essays.

We can discuss again once you've taken the GMAT (link in topic post). Go smash that exam. All the best and reach out to us (link in signature) if you need any support with your application.

Could you please take a moment to fill this feedback (It’s anonymous if you wish so).

Planning to apply to B-School this year. The plan was to take a few weeks off for personal reasons, take my CFA Level 3 that time as well and work as a Consultant with a leading consumer-tech startup. However, offer is on hold due to the COVID situation and I had already quit my job. Currently volunteering with an ACT fund and taking french classes
3. Industry: VC; financial services

Hi dadele,

Welcome to YMBAS club and we are happy to answer your queries.

Highlights - Strong Academics, Significant and diverse work Experience (IB, FS)

Focus Areas - Extracurriculars, Frequent job changes, Your FS experience, Post MBA objectives

Overall this a strong profile, unless you are observing a 20-30 point consistent jump in mock exams, we would suggest to put in that application and focus on essays, LORs and interview preparation. Also, a bit of effort would be required to explain the journey from leading FS firm to startup. It would be good for us to understand which part of your professional experiences you can highlight.

All the best and reach out to us (link in signature) if you need any support with your application.

Data Analytics is a fast growing space and lot of organisations are heavily investing in the same. It would be good to focus on how you made that transition from an IT environment to data based insights.

Hi rakshit21,

Welcome to YMBAS club and we are happy to answer your queries.

Highlights - Very strong GMAT Score, Strong Academics, Extensive Work experience to demonstrate your career story, Graduation from a reputed university, Good Career Growth to demonstrate leadership experience, Decent Extracurricular, International diverse environment experience

Focus Areas - Your Post MBA objectives, Why Strategy Consulting

Overall this a strong profile however your applicant pool is also expected to have higher GMAT and academic scores. It would be useful to put effort in how you make your profile stand out from an over represented engineering applicant pool, which should come out in your essays.

Data Analytics is a fast growing space and a lot of organisations are heavily investing in the same. It would be good to focus on why you made that transition from a fast growing career path to gain experience in the Pharma sector and Marketing.

All the best and reach out to us (link in signature) if you need any support with your application.

Hi EricCartman95

Welcome to YMBAS club and we are happy to answer your queries.

Highlights - Strong Academics, Near Below Average Work experience to demonstrate your career story, Graduation from a reputed university, Good Career Growth to demonstrate leadership experience, Strong Extracurricular, Merit based academic demonstration

Focus Areas - Your Post MBA objectives, GRE Score is approx similar as ISB average

Overall this a strong profile however your applicant pool is also expected to have higher GMAT and academic scores. It would be useful to put effort in how you make your profile stand out from an over represented (IT + engineering) applicant pool, which should come out in your essays.

Also, the shift from software engineering to product management has to be deliberated upon.

Few questions:-
1) What one quality should I highlight in essay 1 based on the above points?

Essay 1 is about the most important personal quality that you possess which significantly enhances your prospects of being successful as a leader.

Did you demonstrate any significant traits based on your personal / professional experiences?

Based on the info above - It would be good to highlight your team management and collaboration attribute (winning team at the Hackathon, chat application in college, experience working for Covid awareness). As part of the classroom study experience, business schools do appreciate students who would not only contribute to the discussions but also lead teams effectively in peer group studies. Would be good to be a bit more creative to show how you have achieved success by applying it consistently in your journey so far.

2) Is my GRE score good enough?

This would be in the ballpark range of ISB average score for GRE. If you are not planning to retake the exam, this should suffice for a respectable application.

3) Which round should I target and what are my chances with current scores?

When you are best prepared to submit a strong application, you should submit your application in the subsequent round. Based on above criteria, this is a strong profile however it also depends on your interview performance and SOPs. B school applications are more than just a score hence we don’t predict chances, we only provide a profile strength evaluation.

4) What should I put for the long term goal?
