Has anyone considered the Gies iMBA? This is a fully accredited MBA degree from the University of Illinois. It is totally delivered on-line with no campus requirement. Also, there is no GMAT nor GRE requirement! The best part is the low cost: only $22,000! Students can begin taking credit classes before admission. These credits are transferable to the iMBA or any other university. MOOC classes and distance learning have received favorable reviews from Harvard Business Review and CNNMoney.
"We're catering to people who typically wouldn't be able to come into an MBA program at this stage in their life, but still need it to advance their careers," said Nikhil Sinha, the Chief Business Officer at Coursera. During a panel discussion, Dean Raj Echambadi stated that the mission of the Gies iMBA is to deliver high quality education at an affordable price. This is an effort to broaden the definition of an MBA degree, and to deliver a more meaningful business learning experience.
The website claims that there is no difference between the iMBA and the on-campus MBA. All transcripts and diplomas will state you studied at Urbana-Champaign. My transcript from The University of Maryland reflects a similar experience. While stationed with the USAF in Germany, I took several classes at the UM Frankfurt campus. My first transcript reflected this fact. Two years later, I received a letter and an updated transcript. The letter stated that some military students had encountered problems while transferring credits, especially to graduate programs. The problem was the location. My updated transcript now reads College Park, MD. No problems since, all transfer credits have been accepted w/o questions.
In a time of increasing e-commerce, world-wide acceptance of MOOC, leveraging information and knowledge in an increasingly flat world, the Gies iMBA makes a lot of sense and represents a tremendous return-on-investment.

Congratulations to all of you guys, who were admitted!!!
I was also accepted, w00t!
The email stated that I need to provide a 250USD deposit to finalize my acceptance. Also, they mentioned the opportunity to take classes in March, prior to the official start of the program in September.

I'm taking Leadership and Teams. It's pretty good. I particularly enjoy the group assignments. Also the group discussions in the live sessions are good.

I'm curious as to why this program is not yet ranked. After reading the article in P&Q about the issues that they had in the beginning with the ranking, it sounds like Illinois requested to be dropped from the US News list due to a lack of complete data. Certainly they should have enough data now though.

There are metrics like 3-year graduation rate, for which they still do not have enough data. It should be available pretty soon, I guess.

Does anyone know how large the cohorts have been up until this point?
I just had my interview today and she told me the cohort for this fall will be like 1000 students. Also I won't hear until April 5th or so. Lame.
I have been accepted to Southern Utah online ($18k), Washington State online ($40K), and Boise State Online ($31k). Waiting to hear from iMBA ($22k) and Utah Valley University Tech Management MBA ($24k). Than I can make my decision. As you can see cost is a big part of it to me. So I will see my options

Hi all, Glad to have found this forum. Congrat fellow Illini. I also got admitted to iMBA fall 2019. Are you starting with the non degree course sign up that starts March 13th? Which courses are you choosing? Are you choosing 1 or 2?
Just wanted to connect and discuss some of the logistics.

Congrats! I am taking one class as a non-degree student in Spring, it is BADM572 - it has not started yet, so I am taking a Coursera part in the meantime.

Hey, I also signed up for that, can you tell me what are the coursera courses? I can start them after that too. Is there a https://gmatclub.com/chat group for fall 2019 cohort. That would make it easy for everyone to communicate.

The two courses are: Exploring and Producing Data for Business Decision Making; • Inferential and Predictive Statistics for Business. To enroll, you need to sign up for the "Managerial Econ and Bus Analysis" specialization.
You will also need to link your Coursera and UofI accounts - the email with instructions will be sent to your university account.
There's also a Facebook group for 2019 iMBA intake.

I'm taking BADM 509 Managing Organizations and BADM 590 Intro to Business Analytics. I'm taking BADM 508 now. 508 and 509 are in Core 1. Core 1-4 are required cores we have to take. 590 is in their new specialization, Business Analytics, which I plan to do. You can see here, https://onlinemba.illinois.edu/current/ ... offerings/, for upcoming summer classes too.
