Has anyone considered the Gies iMBA? This is a fully accredited MBA degree from the University of Illinois. It is totally delivered on-line with no campus requirement. Also, there is no GMAT nor GRE requirement! The best part is the low cost: only $22,000! Students can begin taking credit classes before admission. These credits are transferable to the iMBA or any other university. MOOC classes and distance learning have received favorable reviews from Harvard Business Review and CNNMoney.
"We're catering to people who typically wouldn't be able to come into an MBA program at this stage in their life, but still need it to advance their careers," said Nikhil Sinha, the Chief Business Officer at Coursera. During a panel discussion, Dean Raj Echambadi stated that the mission of the Gies iMBA is to deliver high quality education at an affordable price. This is an effort to broaden the definition of an MBA degree, and to deliver a more meaningful business learning experience.
The website claims that there is no difference between the iMBA and the on-campus MBA. All transcripts and diplomas will state you studied at Urbana-Champaign. My transcript from The University of Maryland reflects a similar experience. While stationed with the USAF in Germany, I took several classes at the UM Frankfurt campus. My first transcript reflected this fact. Two years later, I received a letter and an updated transcript. The letter stated that some military students had encountered problems while transferring credits, especially to graduate programs. The problem was the location. My updated transcript now reads College Park, MD. No problems since, all transfer credits have been accepted w/o questions.
In a time of increasing e-commerce, world-wide acceptance of MOOC, leveraging information and knowledge in an increasingly flat world, the Gies iMBA makes a lot of sense and represents a tremendous return-on-investment.

Hey, does anyone know when you should expect to hear from the Admissions office if you applied in Round 1? Thanks!
Update: I received the interview invitation on 2019-02-01!

Hi UoI, application admission results expect to happen between 2 to 3 weeks (I see you got your invitation).
Can I ask when did you submit a complete application? I submitted mine on 17 Jan 19.
Hi, same here - submitted mine on the 17th. I've also heard about 2-3 weeks to decision, the last invitation for the Round 1 applications will likely be sent on the 8th of February or so.

Are there any round 1 applicants here for Fall 2019 who have had their interviews yet? How long was your interview? Mine was 20 minutes. Did you get a follow-up email saying "Round One applicants will be notified of their decision on Friday, February 22, 2019"? Or was anyone told something else?

Buongiorno, Ragazza. Thank you for sharing this. I also had my interview today and was told that the decision would be made by the 22nd. I have not received an official email though.

I was told in my interview, on or by 2/22, they will inform round 1 applicants.

Hey, my interview was super short. I think her questions lasted 8 minutes, and I used another 8 for my questions. And later that day, got the email that they will notify Round 1 applicants on 2/22. I think the only thing going for me is that I'm taking a for-credit course right now. They may want to wait to see the final grade before accepting me.

Thank you for the update! Yes, mine was half me asking questions about the program as well. The questions she asked me were mostly the same as the essay questions.

I had my interview on 1/15. Waiting for over a month is killing me! 2.5 more weeks to go.

Not 100% positive about this number but I thought I read the very first cohort was roughly 150 students and I think I read 76 people graduated in their first graduating class. During the interview, she mentioned something about 1800 students are currently in the program across all cohorts.

According to the article on ClassCentral, there were about 1100 students total (as of last Fall). So, my guess is that several hundred applicants are admitted each year. As already mentioned above, the first cohort was probably the smallest.

Just submitted my application. Still waiting on my letters of Recc... Dont believe it is complete yet so I'll probably miss this deadline and hit the next one.
What other online MBA programs is everyone else applying too?

This is a actually the only online program I applied to so far. I also applied for the traditional MBA program at JMU.
I'm trying to keep my costs as low as possible and not take on any debt, getting the most bang for the buck.
