Hi Guys,
I took GMAT recently (Aug 2017) and received a score of 720 (Q50, V38, IR 5). It puts me in the 94th percentile. I am a bit worried about my incredibly low IR score. Moreover, I am not sure how competitive the overall score 720 is, especially considering the high scores the Indian applicants usually receive. Do I have a chance at the top 10 schools for MBA, M.Fin or MS in Fin. Engg? I graduated from one of the top universities in India with a moderate GPA. My professional experience (mostly in finance/ banking industry) is close to 4 years.
Additionally, do you think the quant and verbal scores are imbalanced? They are 86th and 85th percentile scores respectively.

Its a great score and don't worry about the IR5. Depends on what school you are targeting, if you are targeting schools with gmat average of 710-720 then it might not hurt to re-take to gain an advantage. If you're aiming for schools with below 700 score then you are fine.

i have told you before also that your split is great . at your score even harvard won't reject you even though you are from india they will see your application. a 750 in gmat or 720 indictate the same thing that you will do well in the course. indian applicants with high scores are rejected because they don't make a compelling profile. What would any mba school want? an allrounder with a 720 or someone with a 780 who has not done something different or has something unique. Every year candidates getting 800 i rejected. so instead of chasing a higher score make solid applications
