GMAT 710 but IR Just 2

Question

Hi Folks,

I gave my GMAT yesterday and scored 710. (Q48 V40). However I scored miserably in IR ... Just 2.

I had given GMAT in 2014, I scored 6 in IR ( and my GMAT score was 530)

I wanted to know what is the impact of such low IR score ? Should I retake GMAT ?

Please help.

Hi askul,

That's sad to see. But it depends on which school you're applying to and what that school's policy is on evaluating IR score. Most schools have not yet started considering IR scores in mainstream. I only know of INSEAD which has a minimum requirement of 6. If your target school has any such requirement  only then  you should consider re taking the test. Otherwise, max you can be inquired as to why you scored so low but should not affect your candidacy. Hope this helps.

I am planning to apply Indian B-Schools : ISB, IIM A, IIM B and IIM C.

So far I havent come across any minimum requirement for IR for this schools.

I have started contacting these schools. Lets see.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you. Were you able to find out about IR requirements from the Indian schools like IIMs, ISB? Any advice would be immensely helpful. Thank you.

Don't think of it as a "requirement". At least not for ISB. Good schools will think twice before shutting out a large number of applicants.

Even though  some  schools mention a "cut-off" score, I haven't seen any minimum IR scores mentioned (even INSEAD puts it across as a "recommended" score). If you're not sure, the best thing to do is to directly ask your target schools whether they have any minimum score for IR.
