Yes, ordinarily, most people consider this a good score and within the averages of the schools I'd be applying to (HBS, Wharton, Stanford, Columbia, Sloan). The problem is I'm in the IT industry like the other 2309842340237 applicants out there, though I'm not Indian. (I'm Asian, born in North America).
I am worried that I'll be below the average score for my particular demographic and applicant type. And trying to stand out in a very highly represented crowd is going to be even harder with a score lower than most. The way I see it, though the GMAT average for a place like HBS is 710 or so, for the engineer/IT applicant pool, particularly Indian applicants, it's skewed much higher.
Anyone have comments on this? Should I retake the test?
No. Work on distinguishing yourself in other ways -- excellence at work, interesting extra-curricular activities, impact in community service, etc.
Good luck!
