Hi
thecynicalmister,
Thanks for sharing this info and congrats on completing the GMAT and the exciting job offer. Historically, deferred admission is more competitive for applicants than applying a few years into your career, but on the other hand it is a low-risk way to try to secure a seat before graduating. That said, for Indian clients we would typically advise scoring 20-30 points above a target school's average, so around 750-760 to be a competitive applicant. Your score doesn't automatically preclude you from being considered given it is a holistic review process, but the GMAT is going to be less competitive than your peers applying.
With regards to the deferred programs, you may have more luck with Darden at this stage if interested, but given many of the applications are free you could take your chances and you always have the option to reapply in a few years.
Feel free to send a note to
scott@personalmbacoach.com to further discuss your school selection and application strategy. There is still plenty of time to work together to put together strong applications. We regularly work with folks in India and can certainly help here!

Hey
I took the GMAT today and scored 740 (Q49, V41). I am a final year undergrad from the best ranked commerce college in India with good academic record. Apart from this, I have been doing internships across fields (ie. finance, consulting, sales) during college and have also been active in college theatre. Further, I have an offer with a highly known social impact consulting firm for my years after undergrad.
Can you give me my chances for deferred admit at the M7?
