After a review it appears that PPT works very well - it may even be superior to Word in terms of what it allows me to do.

Both formats are accepted and for the sake of competition, no preference will be given to either format.

Remember that the template is important but is scored separately.

I think PPT will work well if working on Lappy or PC, if someone wants to take the print out and use it for review purposes in while travelling ,office or somewhere then it will be bit heavy on pocket both monetary wise and page wise count..a word doc can be divided into 3 flashcards with both sides while one slide will be used for one card...so i will need to take 3 times more print out for ppt then flashcard on words...and if 1 ppt is used for question and other for answer then again 3 times more means
100 or 600 A4 page printouts ...looks good :?: ...........

** Just my views so no offence plzz....

One slide can be divided into 4 parts and you can save your page :) also you can take printouts on both sides for slides.

So, IMO ppt is better than word document. Additionally you can format/design ppt very well.

If we have to divide ppt in any case then why not use word doc...just for format design? BB is saying PPT wont have any preference as such over word?

You said "Just for format design" but I'll say it's the main part - design!! Your work should speak for you and design plays a important part in that role.

I don't think that PPT will have preference over word document. But then design is definitely a part!

Well! I might try (I know I am late:) ) for Template & Quant and I am already compiling all the concepts & tips/tricks by Bunuel into one Word Doc and then convert it to pdf (title is Bunuel). But the problem is Bunuel is already competing (hehe) and I think it wouldn't be appropriate to use his work while competing with him :).
For Quant Flashcards concepts by Bunuel, Shrouded1, and GMAT Club's Math Book (I have updated it till October 9 & will share it soon) is enough.

sandeep800: As bb explicitly mentioned, there will be no preference given to PPT over Word Doc. Formatting and design becomes easier if you use a PPT, but you're free to use Doc as well.

As to your concerns about wasting pages, trust me, it works much more efficiently. Even if you design a slide separately there's an option on the printing effects of PPT called "Handouts" which lets you print 6 slides to a page. If you want, you could do this on both sides as well. Hence this actually works just as well as Word, if not better.

Just putting this out there for people who want to know.

In a nutshell: It doesn't matter which format you use, as long as you can present your ideas coherently and incorporate good design ideals into the flashcards. (Kinda speaking on behalf of bb here, but he's busy with the main contest and I don't think he'll mind. Will you, bb?) :)

Can someone help me in formatting? I am not able to get the fractions represented correctly in word or ppt. I am able to write it as 1/2.

Taken from https://support.microsoft.com/kb/137734. Worked in Word 2007.

Use an Equation Field to Create the Fraction:

This method creates a fraction with a horizontal line between the numerator and the denominator.

1. Place the insertion point where you want the fraction to appear.
2. Press CTRL+F9 to insert field braces.
3. Between the field braces, type the following
EQ \F(a,b)
where a and b are the numerator and denominator of the fraction.

For example, if you want to create the fraction 1/8, the field would look like this
{ EQ \F(1,8)}
4. With the insertion point in the field, press SHIFT+F9.

Just use the equations tool. You don't need to know the command tags, you can just choose fractions on the equation toolbar

BB wont delay it!!

Well, because of time shortage, only tried to make a template :). Quality matters most, so just submit it no matter how much have you done it (maybe you got some good material and the material can be used in some final version released by Gmatclub itself). So, maybe you won't get prize but you would be satisfied that you tried to make your contribution (no matter how little) :).

Peace & cheers :)

it would be nice to see work from all participants posted on GMAT Club. Also, I believe most of us are preparing for GMAT, and could benefit from the cards this week if they are available.
