Object vs. Subject

If a noun is subject of a verb, the verb should end with ‘ed’ If a noun is object of a verb, the verb should end with ‘ing’

Local times determined
Determining local times

Isn't in the 1st Local times is the Subject and in the 2nd Local times is the object...
same as what is mentioned in Flashcards...
plz explain..

yes you're right but this isn't what the flashcard says .. so i corrected it
If a noun is [strike]subject[/strike] object of a verb, the verb should end with ‘ed’
If a noun is [strike]object[/strike] subject of a verb, the verb should end with ‘ing’

this was taken from Sahilz SC Notes btw

I think the flash cards are also mentioning :

If a noun is subject of a verb, the verb should end with ‘ed’ If a noun is object of a verb, the verb should end with ‘ing’

Local times determined : Local Times Sub and verb -ed
Determining local times : Local Times Obj and verb -ing

The point is still not clear... Have u modified the flash cards because the pt mentioned above only is present in flash cards...

If u mean other way then eg. does not supports it...

If cannot be used as a subordinate clause connected with "can" in the main clause.

I found an exception to the rule.

GMAT OG SC Question 12

Rising inventories, when unaccompanied correspondingly by increases in sales, can lead to production cutbacks that would hamper economic growth.

Answer: if not accompanied by corresponding increases in sales, can lead

So is the rule mentioned in the flashcards wrong?

i added the rule from spidey's guide, but i have removed it from the flashcards. i've seen correct problems that use if and can together.

-The irritation of the stomach caused by aspirin can be avoided if the aspirin tablet is given a coating that will not dissolve until the tablet reaches the intestine.
-For many people, household labor remains demanding even if they can afford household appliances their grandparents would have found miraculous.

Not many days left to my reattempt at GMAT. However, I will try my best to inculcate as much of suggestions as I can.

How I wish that I had discovered this forum before my first attempt at GMAT.

Hi All, anyone used this recently? Is it up to date? Thanks!!

There are a number of flashcards floating around, you can search around. Specifically for sentence correction, grammar has not changed in the last 10 years so these should be current.

There has been some pivot to explain questions by approaching the meaning of sentences which probably wasn’t as common of a method when these were put together.

Bottom line, you will not be learning anything wrong with these 😇
