If anyone is interested in Egypt, I'll be there May 11-19. I just bought a RT ticket from NYC-Cairo for $850 on Egypt Air.

I'm using up the last of my vacation days before I quit in July. :)

Nope, I'm an American and it's my first trip to Egypt. I've heard that it's the perfect time to visit given the sharp decline in tourism.

Do you have any recommendations for what to see and do?

Phuket, Thailand at the Twinpalms Phuket. The land rate for this trip would be $500 per person which includes 6 nights in a double occupancy Deluxe room with full breakfast and transportation to and from the airport included.



Airfare approximations are as follows:

JFK-HKT - $1950 with one stop

ORD-HKT - $1975 with two stops

LHR-HKT - $1300 with two stops

DEL – HKT - $480 with one stop

^^ Phuket is an AMAZING place!!

If you do end up going to Phuket, do check out places around Phuket. While some parts of Phuket are quite commercialized, some islands around Phuket are what dreams are made of!! Was back there in early 2010..Did a lot of snorkelling and sea kayaking n stuff.

One word of caution though...its gonna be HOT and by that I mean definitely 90+ with plenty of humidity. It's like being in a sauna all the time...

is it possible to put an estimate of the cost of the trip (minus airfare since that will vary) into the poll so you can see it immediately?

and i think it should go without saying that only people who are seriously considering going should vote...

Also interested. I will be participating in a Booth Random Walk from 8/18-8/26, but would like to do some additional traveling in July as well. I'm currently exploring options with friends/family, but would love to meet some new folks! Will follow this topic and post as decisions are needed.

Partypooper alert here - July in Phuket is the peak of the Thai monsoon season. It will be raining most of the time. The sea will be filled with rain water run off. Lots of sea based water sports will be shut down.

I finally got the Barcelona/Ibiza quote. This is the trip that received the most votes.

Dates 2-9 July, 2012
Flights:
JFK TO BCN/IBZ TO JFK = approx. $1150 one stop each way
ORD TO BCN/IBZ TO ORD = approx. $1150 one stop on outbound flight, 2 stops on return
LHR TO BCN/IBZ TO LCY = approx. $330 direct on outbound, one stop on return
DEL TO BCN/IBZ TO DEL = approx.. $1100 one stop on outbound, 2 stops on return

JULY 6, 2012 Barcelona to Ibiza 1150A-1250P = $95 per person OR 900A-0955A =$57 per person

Land:

Barcelona 3-6 July
CLARIS HOTEL
Eixample Neighborhood
Standard room, double occupancy
Full breakfast

Ibiza 6-9 July
TORRE DEL MAR
Water/Beachfront
Standard room, double occupancy
Full breakfast

Total per person for land: $860 (this includes transportation from airport to hotel and back in Barcelona; your hotel in Ibiza is only 5 miles from the airport so I would recommend a cab or local transportation)

Please let me know if you are for sure interested so I can get a count back to the travel agent. Flight costs are dependent on where you're flying in from and if you use airline miles. Hotel costs can also be lowered if room occupancy increases.
