Dear All,

  • I have scheduled my GMAT exam on 15th Oct 2025.
  • Concept wise, I have 100% clarity on the topics required for the GMAT.
  • Now, I will be solely focusing on solving as many questions as possible (using GMAT Club and Official Guide).

Question:
  1. Please suggest a score band corresponding to each difficulty level (easy, medium, hard). For eg.: upto 605 level questions correspond to easy questions).
  2. Also, my target is to achieve 655, so what is the minimum level of questions that I should master for a 655 score? For eg.: one should master upto 705 level questions to attain a 605 score.

I'd really appreciate if someone could answer this query as this would provide me with a much needed direction to work upon.

Thanks & regards,
Piyush

Hi. As long as you can consistently answer 605 questions 51% of the time, GMAT will think you deserve a 605 score.

So if you don’t need a 705 score, I would focus on 605 and below questions and only occasionally mix in a 655 level.

For your question 1, please refer to this post.

For question 2, one way to look at it is a target accuracy for Easy, Medium, and Hard question. For example, this post.

Another theory is that the best level of difficulty to practice is one level above your current status. Please see this post.

Hi bb,

Thanks for your valuable input.

So, you are saying that, for example, if I need a 655 score, then I should hit at least 51% accuracy on 655 level questions to achieve 655 score in the actual test?

  1. Can you please elaborate? Please let me know what accuracies I should obtain on easy, medium and hard level questions to obtain a 655 score.
  2. Also, instead of all this, do you recommend using the streaks method? Which approach do you think is better?

LoL bb the percentages sound bananas! Can you or anyone tell in the recent tests, how many MSR stems are appearing in DI (I know it's usually 1 but i saw someone who posted that he or she got 2), also are boldface questions still appearing in the verbal section?
Regards

Hi. Someone wanted precision, so I aim to please and gave exactly that :upsidedown

In terms of MSR's - the test format and structure is flexible. GMAC never said there is only 1 MSR passage with 3 questions. That's what we have observed in 90% of cases, and pretty much 100% of cases in GMAT Prep.

However, from time to time you may see some anomalies if a person is out of a certain question type (or rather the test is out of it) and thus people may get 2 MSR's. Another reason for that could be that one of the passage is experimental and so they have to squeeze it in. Ultimately you need to be ready to be surprised and keep your cool - some folks have reported seeing RC's back to back in the Verbal section and 2 MSR's - those do happen, but not too common, at least in the past 18 months.
