If you feel like you could improve your quant score, I would definitely retake. V42 is great and will distinguish you among Indian male peers with a solid quant score. Of course it all comes down to whether or not you have the time and motivation to study more quant. I really think it could help your application though.

Congrats! Although 690 is a great score, you have the potential to reach the 99th percentile! I would definitely go for a re-take mahn!

There's also a downside to the quant percentile and verbal percentile being so far apart. Business schools prefer a well balanced score to a score in which one of the two parameters is in the extreme and the other is only moderate.

Wow! Such a great post! And I must say that 690 is already a good score..for me. If I were you, I wouldn't retake it. But that depends on what kind of school you want to enroll in. You were a bit unlucky about the first question of quant, but at least you could manage it and Q42 is a good score already. However, if you are quite confident that you'll be able to get good score in verbal for the next time, then I believe your score can reach 700+.
I don't have any experience in applying for MBA yet, so maybe other posts can help you better.
I wish I could crack the verbal and get as good score as yours! My next exam is on 31st Aug...right now I feel so exhausted. T T GmAT does play sth with emotion. Try to cheer myself up for the whole afternoon, but doesn't work at all. I'll just restart myself Tmr.
