Verbal p.86

" Example: A number of reasons – Singular! A number of
cars – Singular! "

I think it should be [a number = plural, the number = singular] ?

Quote:
The construction the number of + plural noun is used with a singular verb (as in the number of people affected remains small). Thus it is the noun number rather than the noun people which is taken to agree with the verb (and which is therefore functioning as the head noun). By contrast, the apparently similar construction a number of + plural noun is used with a plural verb (as in a number of people remain to be contacted). In this case it is the noun people which acts as the head noun and with which the verb agrees. In the latter case, a number of works as if it were a single word, such as some or several. Found one more..

p.95

Quote:
Act as/like
 Correct: A signature can attack as legal attestation.
 Incorrect: A signature can attack like a legal attestation.

Great work by the way :-) will definitely work through it a couple of times.

Very helpful, thanks!

I also request further explanation for the "Number Properties 2 (Hard)" on slides 23-24 (p.9).

Until then, I'll keep on pluggin' away!

Hello! Thanks guys and really good job on the flashcards, ultra helpful!

I have a concern on page 21 though: formula says that 1/2b=2c, in the solution we find that b=4, and in the line after that we find 0.5*4=2c, which is equal to (b)*1/2=2c which is not the formula we have, so either we change the formula or put 1/(2*4)= 2c.

Thanks again for the amazing job

Thank you - took me a while to find the issue. Great catch with the fraction - tricky indeed.
I have updated the file.

Sure - that's one option - to carry with you when you are out and about.
If anyone knows a good way to put into an easy-to use mobile platform, let me know!

Thanks for the flashcards. Noticed on page 10 you have 5 as a multiple of 6.
