Hey Aysha95

I would suggest you to start off with a Diagnostic test and then master the concepts (I used MGMAT and Egmat) before moving on to the OG

As it turns out, the OG questions are limited and they are the true representation of the GMAT

It would be better to use them wisely

All the best with your prep

Hi,

I have just started my GMAT Prep.
I have the OG for 2019 and i plan to take the test in 2021 .
Is it OK to study from OG 2019?

It's 100% alright to start with OG

OG is the best source to begin your prep however Quant questions of OG are easier than questions encountered in GMAT. Keeping that in mind you may start with OG and move to other sources

However, I start teaching students with other good quality material first and ask students to assess their learning by taking OG question as tests. You can visit my website to check some questions of OG with video solutions (FREE for OG Quant review 2020)

For verbal, OG is best source. In fact most sources other than OG are misguiding for verbal.

Tag me for any direct question. :)

Happy learning...

What is the major difference between the OG2019 ,2020& 2021.
Although pattern remains same every year, does the latest OG contains new questions?
Also do these OG have real question which come in the GMAT exam or they are just examples of the types which we will face in the final EXAM?

The difference is just a few questions more in OG 21 over OG19

So there is no much point in buying a new OG if you already have OG19. You can filer new oG question on GMAT CLUB and practice the,.

But you can certainly go fro Advanced Guide of og

https://gmatinsight.com/courses/gmat-of ... questions/

the questions in this book represent a different level and therefore this book is different that OGs.

Hi Aysha95,

The OG books are great sources for practice questions - so you would be fine using any recent version of the primary Official Guide (even going back several years). However, those books are not designed to teach you Tactics, patterns or the little 'secrets' behind the GMAT - for those, you'll need Course-oriented materials. To that end, you might want to work on the OG a little later on in your studies.

Since it sounds like you're just beginning your studies, then it would be a good idea to take a FULL-LENGTH practice CAT Test; you can take 2 for free at www.mba.com (and they come with some additional practice materials). If you want to do a little studying first, so that you can familiarize yourself with the basic content and question types, then that's okay - but you shouldn't wait too long to take that initial CAT. That score will give us a good sense of your natural strengths and weaknesses and will help provide a basis for comparison as you continue to study. A FULL CAT takes about 3.5 hours to complete, so make sure that you've set aside enough time to take it in one sitting. Once you have those scores, you should report back here and we can come up with a study plan.

I'd like to know a bit more about your timeline and goals:
1) What is your goal score?
2) When in 2021 are you planning to take the GMAT?
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

Hi Aysha95,

With 4-5 months of potential study time, you could potentially improve a great deal, but you will likely have to commit to a specific and consistent study routine to properly hone all of the skills needed to hit 700+. As such, I suggest that you take that initial practice CAT sometime soon (perhaps this weekend) - and post back here once you have your Score.

In addition, if you are interested in any highly-competitive Schools, then you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. Those Experts should be able to answer your Admissions questions and help define the specific areas of your profile that could use some improvement (and the more lead-time you have to work on all of this, the better). There's a Forum full of those Experts here:

Hi Aysha95,

Yes, you can use a book from 2019; however, do you plan to use any other resources for your prep? Also, you may find it helpful to read the following article:
