Hello, I tried to register for the gmat online exam, but it's said it's not available in my area (even though I live in Europe where there are no restrictions).
Has this happened to anyone before?
I am currently having the same issue (in the US) I’m not sure why either, and all testing centers near me appear to be closed. Not sure what to do, I’m going to check back tomorrow to see if anything changes.

It actually is NOT supposed to do anything with test centers being closed or open. That appears NOT to be a determination of the GMAT online availability. It is supposed to be available regardless....

The GMAT™ Online exam is available in most locations, with the exception of: Mainland China, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, and Sudan due to regulatory and local data privacy rules. Please note that currently proctoring support for the GMAT™ Online exam is only offered in English.

From mba.com... and I just tried searching for an appointment and I can see about 60 days out.

I am based in Seattle but not sure it matters or should matter really.

Hi Karthik740,

Could you please clarify what you mean? All signs (including GMAC's own words) point to the GMAT Online format being kept available indefinitely.

Are you sure that April 7th, 2021 isn't simply the latest date that you were able to schedule a sitting for the online exam? It could be that the automated GMAT Online booking system currently only lets you schedule an exam within about 60 days of your registration date, for example.

However, I can also confirm on my end that GMAT Online retake appointments are currently only available until 4/7/21:

Hi,

I'm unable to post the attachment because apparently I need 5 posts. Anyways, please find below the query I had asked and the actual response received from the GMAC Customer Care team -:

My questions -:
Request your confirmation on the availability of the GMAT Online exam -:
1. Can we reschedule the GMAT Online exam from February to a date in March 2021?
2. Can we book a GMAT Online exam in March / April 2021.

Actual Response Received -:
"Hello,

Yes, you may reschedule or book an exam up to April 7, 2021. All available dates up until April 7 are already available on the registration calendar. Click through the months to view availability."

Open for interpretation to all!!

Hello everyone,

I have had a strange experience at GMAT home edition and hope you can figure out what happened.

My time finished for the IR and an expected screen came up, then I guess I got into internet issues...
Anyway the next thing that happened is my camera was turned off and I got a screen saying

exam NOT completed...
...

Does anyone else know this screen, and would he/she tell me what 's written on it? After clicking next, a screen came up with
" Click on End Exam"
I started chatting but eventually clicked. I have no reaction why my exam ended without AWA and questions about my unofficial score.

I don't know what to expect next and if my exam is registered. Can someone enlighten me? :)

Not sure about the "exam NOT completed" screen, but I do know that GMAT home edition does not contain an AWA section.

Thank you, that is great news. Do you know if you normally get an unofficial score, and do you get questions like,
Do you want to accept or reject the exam?
And
Do you wish it to be send to specific universities?

You cannot cancel or accept a score and will not have an un-official score.

As others have already stated, there is no AWA section on the GMAT Online, so this is normal—no need to worry.

That being said, I wonder what happens if you don't click "Next" on the screen that says "exam not completed," or if you don't click "End Exam," and what exactly the point of these 2 extra steps are, since the test is already over at that point, and there is no way to cancel your score on the online exam.

BREAKING: GMAC just announced immediate GMAT Online scoring, select section order, an extra 8-minute break, and other important, long-awaited updates starting 4/8/21!!

There's still no ESR (Enhanced Score Report) option, though, and GMAC still only allows one retake for the online exam.

Four Key Enhancements Starting on April 8

Plan your future testing strategy with these changes in mind:

View your unofficial score immediately: Leave the suspense for the movies. See your score on screen after completing your exam so you can plan your next steps.

Select your section order: Choose which section order to take the exam in, just like the test center exam.

Take two 8-minute optional breaks: Why have one break when you can have two?

Write your Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA): Show off your analytical writing skills to your target programs.

Dates to know:

February 17: Registration opens for the enhanced GMAT™ online exam
Save the date. Register beginning February 17 for appointments April 8 and beyond.

Now through April 7: Current online exam is available
Still here. You can confidently continue to meet your business school goals with the current online exam.

Will any exam taken before April 7th still count towards the lifetime limit? The last time GMAC made a change to the GMAT exam, it didn't count towards a lifetime limit.

Currently it counts towards to the lifetime limit so I assume it will remain and continue counting. (It did not count for the attempts through Sept 2020 at which point they introduced one retake option and made the tests count towards the limits)
