According to GMAT website, it takes 20 calendar days for the schools to receive the score after test, does that include non-business days?

Does the scoring chart constantly get updated ?
One of the practice tests I got a 49 in Quant and 39 in verbal but got only 690 . According to the chart I should Have got 720 ?!

Are you talking about a GMAT Prep practice test? Any other practice test is not accurate because they cannot replicate GMAC's algorithm for computing scores accurately.

Also, I have noticed slight variations in scores with similar V-Q scores. You are correct that a Q49 V39 should get 720 (Q49 V38 - I got 710 on the actual GMAT). However, a poster recently posted as getting a 710 with a Q49 V39
first-time-710-q49-v39-summing-it-up-123669.html

It seems to indicate that there are a few other factors that go into your finals score (for instance the number of difficult questions you got wrong, or if you answered correct questions evenly in different sections vs. acing one section and bombing another etc.).

@alinomoto
I was talking about a veritas prep practice test that I took . So the scoring chart that's put up is applicable only for gmatprep and not tests from other companies ?

I got 760 with Q51 and V41 in GMAT Prep. The scores I got does not match with the grid here. I should have had 43-44 in Verbal for getting 760 with Q 51 as per this grid. Are the scores/break-ups changing now a days?

Thanks! Yes, it happens that from time to time, scores are off a bit (it is also possible to have the same raw scores but different final overall score).

bb , I was wondering if the distribution table percentiles have changed since you posted the table in your first post a couple of years ago.
Is there anyway to get the latest distribution grid ?

Updated with the July 2012 Scores.
There seems to have been some minor inflation in the Quant and Verbal raw scores, though the average verbal score has gone down almost a point. The overall score is on a different percentile calculation (and it did have some minor inflation as well).

Anybody help me!
I am planing to study abroad in USA. The University requires me to have the GMAT of at least 470. Can I do only the Verbal Section and Quantitative Section? For example: I get 36% of Verbal and 25% of Quantitative. I can't do anything in AWA section. Is it ok for me to satisfy the school?
This is the requirement of the school: mba.csusb.edu/deadlinesRequirements.html
Please help me!

You want to write the AWA essay - it is easy and obviously do the IR section. It would be silly to get denied because of skipping. Most schools only list the main GMAT score as the main requirement instead of specifying the overall (200-800), AWA (0-6) and IR (0-8).

Thank you so much, bb!
Did you mean the main GMAT score is Verbal and Quantitative?
In my country, some GMAT courses are so expensive! They ask for $500 for 2 months course. So I will study GMAT at home instead of joining the course. My English is not good. However, I will try my best to do the AWA section.I don't worry about the AWA anymore if the school doesn't require the overall score.
Thanks for your help!

Re: GMAT Scores [#permalink]
Hi guys,

I have a quick doubt regarding the excel (GMAT Scores Sept 2012) that you have shared. In Oct last year, I gave my GMAT and scored a Q50 (92%), V34 (69%) with an overall score of 700. Now, as per the excel that you have shared, if I score Q50 (92%), V37 (81%), my overall score would be 710. This is a little hard to digest as a 3 point and 12% increase in Verbal will only fetch me 10 extra point in terms of overall score.

Can somebody please explain? Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance!!!!!

As I was prepping I looked at this grid a lot and it was super helpful. I have a question though. On the real GMAT I scored a 710 by scoring 48 on Quant and 40 on Verbal. This grid says I should have got a 720. Any thoughts?

Thanks,
