One of my colleagues got a 615 with Q83 V83 DI75 (Probably in the first week of August). A friend gave GMAT today and got a 595. His sectional scores are Q84, V82 DI75. Considering equal total sub-sectional scores and yet a lower final score, I asked him to check with the score calculator. The calculator too suggests a 615 with Q84, V82 and a DI75.
It seems that the concordance table or at least the algorithm of percentile calculation has changed in the past 15 days. (Which seems to be the only feasible explanation). Otherwise, either the sub-sectional scores or the final score that flashed on the screen had some error (which, to me, is highly unlikely!).
But now I am curious.
bb , any suggestions?
[Meanwhile, my friend and I, both are eagerly waiting for the official score report]
Thank you. I appreciate any reports of inconsistency. That is very important to have. As of today, I only had one report of a score that was 10 points off for this calculator. The reason being most likely is some of the rounding that happens because each individual sectional point contributes 6.67 points of the final score and it’s increments of 10.
This would be very helpful if you have a screenshot to get certainty of this kind of a score. Can you get the screenshot?
PS. I think it’s a bit too early too talk about algorithm changes. It may happen but I can tell you that with the other Gmail test, over the 30 years, the algorithm for score calculation never changed. Percentiles changed but not the algorithm.
The previous version of the test had a lot more inconsistencies in the scores between sectional and final score because the calculation for sectional scores and the overall was done using separate algorithms that were not connected to each other. I have not seen that pattern with the focus edition.
