I still get invites from Yale to come attend their events. I've got half the mind to show up and start talking about the strength of the GSB. Maybe that'll get them to finally take me off their list (I've asked like 3 times).

I got an email from Boston U, saying that I have been identified as a preferred candidate for their MBA program and that 75% of the people with my kind of scores get a $35K scholarship at the school. Needless to say that other than my GMAT score, the school knows nothing about how pathetic (or awesome) my profile is.

I am not planning to apply to Boston U, but I must say that this mail was very tempting. 75% students got $35k in scholarship !! This is absolutely opposite of the "Please admit me" plea that I am making to my dream schools.

Is there any chance that a top 15-25 school would try to attract a student this way (Mostly on the basis of a candidate's GMAT score)? If someone gets desperate after getting a lot of dings (Hey, you never know how one takes the dings), and realizes that there's nothing good about his profile other than the GMAT score, then which schools in the 15-25 cluster should he focus on? Schools that would be somewhat interested in the not-so-striking profile just on the basis of the GMAT score.

I am obviously not talking about myself - cos I have a super amazing profile. I am just asking for the benefit of others :roll:

How did they find you? Through GMAC? What is BU ranked? I wouldn't write off their offer until you hear from all your dream schools. A 35k scholarship is nice!

My inbox is getting full of info from schools. I just got an invite to attend a Columbia admissions event in Atlanta. Is this is good sign for applying or do they just send these out in bulk? I wouldn't imagine they would send invites to everyone but possibly people who meet a certain model they are looking for.

kryzak, is it some generic material? Or does it say something about you being a preferred candidate? Cos if it calls you a preferred candidate, then you just beat all of us !! Vanderbilt is the 30th ranked school in BW, and 34th in USNEWS

oh really??? I didn't look closely... just filed it away in my "confidence building folder" ;)

I'll take a look when I get home... I doubt it's the real Vanderbuilt preferred candidate though, I haven't even gotten the Boston U thing yet!!!

I don't remember if I clicked ok to release my scores or not when I took my test. I haven't received anything from any schools, so either I said no to the question, or I suck bad :)

got some email for OSU school of business... something about them attending the MBA Tour in SF and wanting me to swing by.. I guess they claim they're a "Top 25" school.

If it's Ohio State you're referring to, they are ranked in the top 25 on some lists. Others, not so much!

I just recently got e-mails from the Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina (which apparently specializes in international business) and the Carey Business School at Johns Hopkins.

I must say that because I'm definitely not at the level all of you are at (trust me, I am not going to be getting any Columbia or Stanford e-mails) it's very flattering that there are still some schools (that I've even heard of before!) trying to woo me!
