Just don't burn yourself out... people are getting close to 6 or 7 apps in R1 it seems...

Nah, Chicago is already cold enough... at least it's a huge city... I don't think I can handle Ann Arbor.

If it's Ohio State you're referring to, they are ranked in the top 25 on some lists. Others, not so much!

i think it depends on what program you might be interested in; some schools who are ranked 70th overall might be ranked 10th for their financial engineering program so, of course they are going to print that in their marketing materials! :o)


magazine rankings are awfully subjective so i use the UT Rank https://citm.utdallas.edu/utdrankings/Ra ... tatic.aspx

which is based on accumulated published research by faculty. it's still not a perfect metric, but it's better then magazines who don't publish the methodology used in their ranking (i could be wrong? but i think a significant part of BW ranking is popularity contest)

OSU is indeed ranked 25th. OF course UT's method can be critized too! and it is really more relevant for people looking at PhD's.. and even then it still falls short because it doesn't account for personal fit.

hehe. i got that email yesterday as well. i am thinking of applying to Ross after my masters, as their PhD Marketing program looks good. what i don't understand is they say the PhD program welcomes people from sociology and psych backgrounds... yet in the next sentence they want you to have three semesters of Calculus and a semester of linear algebra before applying!!!
how many sociolgy or psych undergrads do you know have taken the full calculus sequence, no less even HEARD of linear algebra!!!??!! :shock:


i also got an email from darden! oh my! i am quite flattered by that! although, they made a spelling mistake:

"Based on your strong profile provided by the GMASS test service, we invite you to take a closer look at the Darden School of Business."

who is GMASS? oops!

what is interesting is that i never really considered my profile strong. sure i am proud of my GMAT, but my undergrad GPA is only 3.1 from crappy no name school. me thinks Darden is a "gmat whore"

i did not get the invitation to apply to BU with funding that so many others did :cry:

I got a card from University of South Carolina they offered to reimburse $200 of travel expenses and to put me up in a hotel for a few days so I could come visit the campus. My wife was joking that we could get a free vacation out of it.

Its odd to be recruited...its not like I run the 40 yard dash in 4.40 or can throw a baseball 95mph. All because of a GMAT score, I guess it does show that there is some importance in having a good score.

what the...thats awesome. i wish i got that. i probably would do it. i actually had a coworker who went to sc for his mba and he turned out pretty well.

I don't have the time to go down there to visit. Plus I think its going to be like one of those time share sales pitches...they keep you occupied for hours and never let you do anything fun on your own, all in the hopes of breaking you down to buy into their program.

Wow :shock:

Why don't you guys plan a, ahem, visit to South Carolina in R3? That would be a nice free vacation after the hard-work that you would have put in R1 and R2. Just don't mention this story in your "ethics" essays :lol:

They have specific dates and both time frames are in October...price time for working on MIT and Tuck or else I might consider it just for the heck of it.

Have you guys had such a sponsored vacation in the past? I did something like this when a company invited me for an on-campus interview. I had no interest in the job, but the free flights and the 2 nights stay were too good to pass. Then when they asked me about expected salary, I said, "Double my current salary". They never called me back .. so .. I never had to reject their offer after enjoying vacation on their money. Win Win.

Well .. now that I've started considering entrepreneurship, I can see what a cheapo I was back then. If someone does the same to mNeo Technologies, I'll just kill him. :evil:
