Hello,

I was recently admitted into three Top 8 MBA programs (according to US News) with an $60-90K merit scholarships. I am beyond excited and grateful, but I also want to throw my hat in the ring for HBS in R2. Work was busy and I simply couldn't make the early R1 deadline.

My question is...
Should I mention in my application that I was admitted into three top MBA programs with a merit scholarship? Would that be looked upon favorably or unfavorably by the admissions committee... is it a risky move with little upside or would it add to my profile as a competitive applicant?

Hello,

Congrats on the admits and scholarships! No you should not mention it. Just apply regularly and if it is strong enough, you will get in. HBS doesn't accept someone because they got in elsewhere with money so it wouldn't help.

I completely agree with the advice above. Each school, including HBS, goes through its own application review and admissions decision-making process and the outcomes from other schools bear no weight on that. But congrats on your R1 acceptances! Wish you the best in R2!

Congrats on your R1 acceptances! Must be a huge weight off your shoulders :D I applaud you for going after HBS in R2 - we always support candidates in going after the best school they can get in to. It's a little extra effort now, but it'll all pay off in the long run! As far as discussing your current situation, HBS won't care. Their used to it as most of their admits have offers elsewhere. HBS won't care. I would avoid doing this. Also, it won't really matter. Every school has a different process to evaluate candidates and just because you got admitted to these schools does not mean you will meet their criteria. I would still apply. Good luck!
