I spoke to two people this week who went to hbs and both happened to get interviews in the 2nd wave- so chill.

Posted from my mobile device

A nice fresh bit of perspective here. The conditional probability only makes sense if its a random draw in terms of who is interviewed anyway so no reason to get yourself overly worked up.

I just think logically it's easier for me if I lower my expectation for wave 2 so I wouldn't get too disappointed (and a good surprise would feel more pleasant). but that's just me and my own soothing techniques.
And hopefully I'm not the only nerd who finds it interesting to calculate random odds.

It's worth noting that you can often visit classes even on days that aren't "official" class visit days. Reach out to any current students you know (particularly RCs) or to leaders within any clubs you're interested in and ask what their class schedule looks like for your potential visit days. As an admissions VP for a club, I brought dozens of guests to class over the course of my RC year and don't think any of them were on admissions-sponsored visit days--my profs and sectionmates never had a problem with it. Just make sure to arrange things in advance so you don't show up on a day that's set aside for recruiting/FIELD/etc. for the whole RC class.

Some EC classes aren't bad to visit either. I had a handful of guests during my EC year--mostly personal friends, but a few were on days where RCs couldn't accommodate visitors.

I recently sat in on a class and will write a blog post at some point. One thing I would say is if you get a chance, definitely take advantage of a class visit. Whether you are applying to HBS or whether you have receive an interview invite, it is a pretty interesting experience to witness the fabled HBS case method in person.

While I am crossing my fingers for an interview, even if I get dinged I am still glad to have had a snippet of the HBS experience!

Last time I visited HBS campus was back in 2002, dreaming to step in as its student one day.
I applied back in 2008 as a graduate student (and ding!).
And now after 5 years of long wait, I re-applied to 1st Rd.
My undergrad GPA would probably be the biggest factor if I get dinged eventually, but oh well, I had to give it one last shot.
The overall experience? Definitely worth it.
It made me feel alive once again, dreaming for the world's best MBA program.
Only 4 1/2 hrs left for the first invite, folks!
Wishing all of you for the best!

AK2016, I'm in a remarkably similar situation (applied previously) and agree 100%. I visited campus in August and was once again inspired. Definitely a great experience. Good luck today!

We posted some info about the HBS interviews on the blahg today.

There is no difference in probability in getting an interview invite in wave 1 vs wave 2.

Good luck to all of you!

Just curious - would you mind sharing your thinking on probability? Last year, Dee said that 800 invites went out in wave 1 and 100 in wave 2.

The probability of getting an invite depends on the strength of your application.
