Needed your advice if MBA will be good my career choice
Facts
1. I'm a 35year old Medically qualified physician from India working for IBM Singapore in the Healthcare IT space as a Senior Consultant and handling multiple projects across Asia Pacific.
2. Post my degree I started working for Healthcare IT and have been in it for close to 8years, I have had a very good IT career having worked with some of the top players in the field.
3. I'm looking to pursue a management degree in US/Singapore/India and continue to work in the healthcare IT space.
Questions
1. What prospect change do you think a MBA from a reputed institute can make considering my age at the time of completion of course and my background? In short should I go for MBA or not?
2. Considering my unique profile I optimistically assume I can get accepted in a reputed institution with a reasonable GMAT score. In this scenario which country/institute do you suggest will best suit my profile?
Appreciate your time and effort in reading through my post and answering my questions.
Warm Regards
Thanks
1. An MBA will help you gain business skills and contribute to the business side, which many technical jobs do not allow. If you are seeking senior (leadership) positions/ responsibilities which require a good understanding of business, then go ahead and do the MBA.
2. there are several MBA programs that have a specialization in healthcare management. You could aim for these. DO you have any country/ region preferences? A major factor that will govern your choice of b-school and the program format is your age, which is on the higher side for a regular, two year MBA.
Singapore has some good options like NUS, INSEAD and SMU. As a start, you should explore these b-schools.
