Hello!
Thank you for commenting on my post.
I would like to begin my MBA journey in January 2024 but I wouldn’t mind a fall start.
Post MBA goal: I really want to get into energy consulting. Given my work experience, I think it will help.
As far as region is concerned, I am quite indifferent about it. I would be fine working in India and I would also be fine working in EU or anywhere else.
Thanks!

1. Academics aren't mentioned (GPA/ earlier), but GMAT is a bit on the lower side. While it's not a show-stopper (HEC's average is ~690), I suggest a retake to increase the chances. Based on when you retake and the updated score, you could target Jan24 or Sep24 intake. For the Sep24 intake, you would be applying early if you do within the next 1-2 months, which is an advantage (other things being equal).
2. Professional experience sounds interesting - how was the arc, i.e. promotions? Would like to understand more details on key projects/ achievements and your learnings, to better assess the strength. Transferable skills from your past role(s), when identified and presented well, can make a strong case for energy consulting.
3. Consulting firms typically hire MBA grads for generalist and specialist roles. For generalist roles, (relatively) younger candidates with some prior work-ex are preferred as they can be rotated across sectors and cases. For specialist roles however, in addition to the first-principles problem solving and stakeholder management skills that an MBA helps groom, expertise in a specific sector is valued. Such roles are for practice areas that serve clients in specific domain(s). This applies to MBB's, big-4s, tier-2, boutique firms. In your case, looking at a specialist role (energy consulting) can be interesting. Internal consulting roles in relevant companies can be interesting too. Also aim to narrow down on geographic preferences, as some countries (especially for consulting roles) require proficiency in local language.
4. HEC's essays are quite in-depth and cover a varied range of topics and traits. Make sure to present a well-balanced profile covering both professional and personal traits/ achievements.
Hope this helps a bit. Feel free to reach out for a deeper chat.
