Hi,
I am a re-applicant and have worked with two diffrent supervisors. Both have shifted, one with the same division but different role and the other (recent one) have shifted to a subsidiry company (which I am planning to shift to post-MBA). Both of them can speaks highly of me and can provide excellent recommednation. I have worked with both directly and the question is: do I choose both of them as "Direct Supervisor" in the "Relationship" section? Given that the first recommender who is still in the same division was in my last applcation as "Direct Supervisor."
Note: the one who shifted to the subsidiry company was my direct supervisor until recently (July).

Recommender can be ex-employee as long as it was long-term relationship. It also good to have the second recommender as your current boss though it may be short-term.

It goes without saying that it is important to mention the relationship your recommender shares with you whether it is your manager or professor or former supervisor. It is always important to choose a recommender who has either worked with you or is associated with you directly. The time of your association reflects how well the recommender knows you and how much he or she has seen your progress in your life and career. Hence, make sure at least one sentence about the tenure of your association or when your association started.
However, it is not the best idea to get a recommendation for a manager who has worked with you years ago because along time you might have picked up more skills and taken more responsibilities at work. Hence, it makes more sense to get a recommendation from your current manager or a manager you have very recently worked with so that you can get a recommendation with your updated skills and role responsibilities.
