Hi. Thank you for this incredibly helpful post. I have a question specific to reapplication that I would like to ask.
A lot of the schools have kept exactly the same essay questions as they had last year or something very similar. How should one approach answering the essays this year? While I would aim to show in the reapplication essay how I have improved over the last year, my ECs, work experience and goals remain largely the same. How can I answer the same main essay questions drastically different?

To be completely honest with you, you need someone to read your essays and tell you where they were lacking. Ie ding analysis.

That will give you the direction you need for the coming year. Also, you might want to employ anecdotes that have occurred within the past year when answering the question.

If you're not using anecdotes to answer the question then that's definitely one of the primary problems.

Hi Sehej,

Thank you for liking the article.

Honestly, I cannot answer your question without taking a look at your last year's essays. I am working with many reapplicants this application season and the most common problem I found in all of their rejected essays was - the essay question wasn't answered appropriately. And yes, we
have created essays that were drastically different from previous years' essays.

MBA essay writing is an extremely time consuming and demanding process that not only requires immense self - reflection, but also lot of rewriting, more rewriting, revising and proofreading.

You may want to refer to the following blog about common mistakes that you can avoid in MBA application essays. I have illustrated these mistakes with examples from student essays:

I hope it helps.

Good luck on your application:)

Hello

I am an MBA aspirant. I wish to apply for B-School admissions this year.

I had applied for certain B-schools last year with a Score of 700 (Q50, V32) and a 4 years work experience. I had received 6-7 interview invites. I was not able to convert them into a successful admit last year.
I wish to reapply to those B-Schools and certain others this year with a same score but an improved profile. Can you help me understanding the procedure of re-applying to a bschool?

I have certain questions for the same ...
a) Do i need to email the admission committee at prior that am a re-applicant ?
b) Do i need to repay the application fee and resend the scores to those B schools?
c) Do i need to re-write the application essays or just a re-application essay?
d) What if i apply as a new applicant to the same schools these year?
e) Do I have a chance as a re-applicant to these schools?
