Thank you
Alaukik for your willingness to help prospective applicants. Much appreciated!! We would love to know a bit more about your background, application experience, and any tips/advice you want to give to prospective applicants. Thanks!
Thanks Narenn.
Let's start with the background.
I was a Marketing manager in Larsen & Toubro, India. I was looking after Defense marketing and product advertising. I have nearly 8 years of work ex in a single company but in different profiles. I started my career in design. Later, I joined company's $300M startup plant. I used this opportunity to handle and learn about many diverse profiles such as plant engineering, project planning and marketing.
Now about the application process.
Application process of the Georgetown is quite similar to that of leading business schools. But what was quite distinctive about Georgetown's approach was that they will take your complete application in account. GMAT is important and should not be overlooked in any case. But the importance of application cannot be underscored enough! All in two words "cura personalis" is something that is embedded in all of its processes.
During my application cycle, I never felt any uneasiness. For nearly all cases, MSB keeps in constant touch with the applicant thru various programs and initiatives. My application process was just about 15 days. After application in October, I received the interview invite in just about 2 weeks. After the interview, I had an admit in December.
If we talk about pointers then this is something that is common for all applications. Think about what you want to do during and after MBA. The better prepared you are, the better it is for school. You might be a career switcher, but research what leverage you can have from school and how you can contribute to the things and values that schools' hold dear. MBA is an opportunity to reset your career. This is something you don't want to skip. This is the reason why all schools ask "Why MBA?". They want you to be ready, even if you decide to switch to another career after getting in. Because ability to detail your career path is one skill that will be equally important and applicable in the new career you chose. You will be gauged among hundreds of other equally qualified applicants, so this research and ability to reach 2nd and 3rd level of communication will help your application stand out.
Again reach out, when you start your applications. Below is the link with more details on the application process.
