Hi Justin - thanks for writing! It's Nisha from our free consultation
As I'd mentioned, for your target schools the GMAT should be ok (unless you can improve quant score with minimal studying - schools sometimes will accept scores after the deadlines but I'd check with the Admissions Office to be sure of timing). I would definitely address your GPA in the Optional Essay in any case, to assure them that you're academically prepared to handle their program.
Hope that helps!

Hi everybody and Merry Christmas!
I've been lurking on this forum for the past month or so as I prepared for the GMAT and finally took it a couple days ago. I managed to score a 730, with a 45Q/45V split. I know this is on the low end for Quant, especially for the top business schools. Application deadlines for round 2 is coming up, so I doubt I'll have time to re-take before the deadline. I guess my question is whether business schools commonly allow applicants to re-take the GMAT after the initial deadline? I'm not shooting for the top 10, UT Mccombs and Rice university would be good enough for me as I'd like to stay in Texas. I have a very poor undergrad GPA, 2.7, so I really need a strong GMAT score to boost my application. I feel I could definitely improve my quant score, as I made my strongest improvements in math near the deadline of the test and felt like I could have been much better prepared. Any thoughts on retaking, and if school allow you to retake after the deadline?
Thanks!
