Can someone please explain the difference between 'In that' and 'because'?

Hello Blair15,

We hope this finds you well.

To answer your query, “in that” is used to reflect an intrinsic property and “because” is used to indicate a cause-effect relationship.

To understand the concept of "In That" vs "Because" on GMAT, you may want to watch the following video (~2 minutes):

Hi team,
I still don't understand how "a difference" is an intrinsic quality. Could you please elaborate a little bit ?
Regards

Hello Blair15,

We hope this finds you well.

To clarify, the meaning conveyed here is that "historical revisionism" is inherently different from "history"; this means that these two things being distinct from one another is a basic and permanent quality.

We hope this helps.
All the best!

There are bigger issues than In That vs Because in A and B. Mainly, the modifier at the end of the sentence modifies the "legitimate scholastic examination", which is NOT a form of historical negation - clearly it is meant to refer to the illegal portion. For the illogical modifier, A and B are out.

Remember, meaning is key for SC - it is not a grammar test
