How do you get recommenders to agree to that?! I felt guilty and bought awesome gifts for my recommenders and they only wrote for five schools. Did you use more than two people?

well, it did help that I applied to 6 through consortium. That's just 1 recommendation to fill.

And Booth/Kellogg/Columbia apparently asked the same questions. 1 of them did submit late to a couple of schools but thankfully it didn't affect my round consideration

I think all business schools should just have a recommendation portal and agree on the questions in advance. So much easier for everyone.

Agree completely - it would make it significantly easier for recommenders (who have lives of their own and (generally) won't benefit much from our bschool aspirations).

I believe they are working on something like that. It does make sense especially if every school asks the same question.

However, I think then we start getting towards a CommonApp scenario where the number of applications at every school increases drastically and therefore the competition increases. I mentor a group of high school students once a week and all of the seniors told me they were applying to at least 10 schools a piece!

Also, I wrote a college recommendation for a high school student recently through CommonApp and although it was nice to only have to write one recommendation for the 11 schools he was applying to, it was difficult to write one specific enough that would help him stand out for the school. I was an alumnus of one of those schools and I wanted to state that in my letter to help him, but it didn't make sense because all of the schools would see it.

Anyways, kudos to you angelfire213! Finishing applications for 11 schools is an accomplishment in itself!

A while back I was getting antsy while waiting for decisions and I tried estimating my chances of getting into at least one b-school based on the number of schools I applied (https://gmatclub.com/forum/johnson-cornell-class-of-2017-calling-all-applicants-172804-100.html#p1431088). It looks like if you assume a 20% probability of acceptance at all schools you have a 91.41% chance of getting into at least one!

I still have 1 left to go...

I know some will call me crazy (believe me I couldn't even tell some folks how many schools I was applying to)....but let's see what happens,

It was expensive, it was tiring and it took up my whole life. Lets hope I'm not looking at 11 dings.

If that somehow happens, well there's always HBS next year.

How'd you like the Consortium application process?

Not trying to take away from your ridiculously awesome endeavor, but I'm wondering why you didn't apply to Tepper through the consortium and make it an even dozen?

well. i did 6 consortium schools already. couldn't add another. Besides, the location of CMU was not for me and the one thing i did was make sure i applied only to schools i would be happy to go to if i got in with no scholarship and no other options.

Ok, I didn't realize you were only allowed to apply to 6 through the consortium. I completely agree with only applying to schools you'd actually like to attend.

Go to the best one from which your target recruiters hire and which offered you the most money?

If that's not enough, let the weather decide for you...;)
